Features:
- Processes a 4–20 mA two-wire setpoint for closed-loop pneumatic actuator positioning.
- Uses double-acting pneumatics with fail-safe behavior after an electrical supply loss.
- Returns valve position through the installed two-wire 4–20 mA analog feedback module.
ABB TZIDC V18345-2010421001 combines the TZIDC controller, I/P converter and pneumatic amplifier in one positioner.
Its mechanical indicator follows the feedback shaft independently of the electrical position-return signal.
NPT cable and air connections define the external wiring and compressed-air paths for this configuration.
The ABB TZIDC V18345-2010421001 Double-Acting Digital Positioner may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Electronic-to-Pneumatic Control Chain
- Setpoint Input: The two-wire 4–20 mA input supplies the position setpoint to the electronic controller.
- Position Comparison: The controller compares the requested value with the feedback-shaft position.
- Pneumatic Conversion: The I/P stage converts the resulting correction into pneumatic pressure for the actuator.
Double-Acting Air Circuit
- Output Paths: Separate pneumatic paths operate the two sides of a double-acting actuator.
- Fail-Safe Response: The fail-safe arrangement defines the air-path response when electrical power disappears.
- Air Supply: Supply air enters through the 1/4-18 NPT connection and is metered by the internal amplifier.
Mechanical and Analog Position Return
- Local Indicator: The mechanical disc provides a local indication linked to the feedback shaft.
- Analog Return: The installed analog module provides a separate two-wire 4–20 mA position-return circuit.
- Circuit Separation: Feedback and setpoint paths remain separate so each can be checked during commissioning.
Actuator Mounting and Local Setup
- Linear Mounting: The housing supports linear-actuator mounting to DIN/IEC 534/NAMUR arrangements.
- Rotary Mounting: Rotary mounting follows the VDI/VDE 3845 mechanical interface.
- Local Setup: The LCI adapter connection provides a local configuration path without replacing the setpoint wiring.
