Features:
- Control Interface for Medium Voltage Vacuum Contactor Systems
- Integrated AC/DC Control Power Processing with Selectable Drop-Out Timing
- Coordinates with Bulletin 1502 Contactors in Motor Starter and Feeder Applications
The 1503VC-BMC5-MC1 operates as the IntelliVAC Contactor Control Module in a Bulletin 1500/1900 CENTERLINE medium voltage motor control center, providing reliable control and protection for vacuum contactor operations. It continuously processes incoming control power (110–240V AC at 50/60 Hz or 110–250V DC) to energize and regulate Bulletin 1502 vacuum contactor coils, and distributes precise timing signals through the control circuit to support consistent pull-in and drop-out performance of both 400A and 800A contactors. Electronic altitude compensation for 400A contactors is standard with the 1503VC-BMC5-MC1, however using the optional external capacitor connections for TDUV applications will allow extended hold-in periods during momentary power interruptions. The 1503VC-BMC5-MC1 has made improvements in several areas over previous contactor control designs in addition to incorporating universal AC/DC input voltage capability within the CENTERLINE control assembly.
The 1503VC-BMC5-MC1 provides essential control and protection functions common to the entire vacuum contactor assembly, and is a critical component of the motor control path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall medium voltage motor starter or feeder system. One 1503VC-BMC5-MC1 control module is required per vacuum contactor depending on the specific application requirements. The 1503VC-BMC5-MC1 occupies a compact module footprint in the control assembly and is always configured via the 16-bit DIP switch located on the front panel.
For enhanced TDUV protection applications, the vacuum contactor system supports optional external capacitor connections in conjunction with the 1503VC-BMC5-MC1 module. In addition to standard control operation, the TDUV configuration also performs automatic hold-in during brief power losses. The 1503VC-BMC5-MC1 executes undervoltage protection using the internal circuitry specified in the control module options. Using this method, the 1503VC-BMC5-MC1 continually monitors the health of the control power supply. If the module detects that the incoming control voltage is no longer providing stable input (outside configured tolerance levels), it will automatically engage the TDUV hold-in circuit to maintain contactor closure and signal the status through the dedicated LED indicators.
The 1503VC-BMC5-MC1 Allen-Bradley Contactor Control Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
