Features:
- Accepts Two Transducer Signals From Bently Nevada 3300, 7200, Or 3000 Series Probes
- Provides Accurate Shaft Speed And Acceleration Measurement With ±1 Rpm Accuracy
- Offers Adjustable Manual Threshold And Hysteresis For Flexible Industrial Monitoring
The Bently Nevada 3300/50 Tachometer is designed to provide continuous monitoring of shaft rotational speed and rotor acceleration in critical machinery. It works with Bently Nevada 3300, 7200, or 3000 series proximity probes and magnetic pickups, accepting up to two transducer signals simultaneously. Internal voting logic reduces the risk of false readings from a single transducer failure, ensuring reliable operation for industrial applications.
Unlike other tachometers, the Bently Nevada 3300/50 Tachometer delivers proportional voltage or current outputs suitable for data logging and chart recording. Its input impedance of 10 kΩ and output impedance of 100 Ω maintain signal integrity, while nominal power consumption of 2.5 watts ensures energy-efficient operation. Manual threshold adjustment from 0 to -18 Vdc and hysteresis from 0.2 to 2.0 volts provide flexibility in system integration.
The Bently Nevada 3300/50 Tachometer is robust, operating from 0°C to +65°C and storing safely between -40°C and +85°C, with humidity tolerance up to 95% non-condensing. While it is ideal for monitoring and alerting purposes, it is not intended for overspeed protection or speed control systems; for those applications, Bently Nevada 3300/53 or 3500/53 monitors should be used. This makes the 3300/50 a precise, reliable, and versatile solution for industrial shaft monitoring.
The 3300/50 Bently Nevada Tachometer may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Sensor Compatibility: Supports various sensor inputs, most commonly the 3300 XL series eddy current probes (as keyphasor sensors) and magnetoelectric speed sensors (magnetic pickups).
- System Integration: This module is installed within the 3300 standard rack, sharing the backplane and power supply with vibration, temperature, and displacement monitors.
- Signal Forwarding: It can forward the input keyphasor signal through the rack backplane to other monitors within the same rack (such as vibration monitors) for synchronous sampling and order analysis, eliminating the need for separate keyphasor probes for each module.
- Multi-Mode Selection: Configurable to four operating modes via internal jumpers: RPM (Rotation Speed): Standard speed display. Rotor Expansion: Measured with specific sensors. Zero Speed: Used to monitor turning gear status. Reverse Rotation: Requires dual probe input to prevent pump or turbine reversal.
- Alarm Settings: Supports setting "Danger" and "Alert" limits, commonly used for overspeed protection.
- Pulses per Revolution: Supports setting the number of pulses per revolution (PPM) via DIP switches or jumpers (e.g., single-phase, multi-gear), ensuring accurate displayed RPM values.
- Buffered Outputs: The front panel provides a Keyphasor signal buffer interface for easy acquisition of raw pulse waveforms via oscilloscopes or external analyzers (such as ADRE systems).
- Analog Outputs: Provides 4-20 mA or 0-10 Vdc recorder outputs for real-time transmission of speed data to DCS or PLC for process control.
- Digital Interface: Module data can be uploaded via the SDI (Serial Data Interface) protocol through the rack-mounted 3300/03 system monitor, enabling System 1 software to obtain accurate machine operating speeds.
- Relay output: Equipped with an alarm relay, which can directly activate when overspeeding or reaching a specific set point to perform mechanical interlock protection.
