Description
The BOP 20-20M series represents a line of high-performance bipolar power supplies designed for both laboratory and industrial applications. A notable variant, the BOP 20-20M, is modified from the standard BOP 20-20M to provide enhanced stability when driving capacitive loads as large as 10 mF.

In voltage mode operation, the BOP 20-20M exhibits a bandwidth of 4.8 kHz with a nominal resistive load and 5.3 kHz with a 10 µF capacitive load, outperforming the standard BOP 20-20M in dynamic response. The rise and fall time for the BOP 20-20M is specified as 75 µs under nominal resistive load conditions.

When operating in current mode, the BOP 20-20M and its MC variant share similar dynamic characteristics with other BOP MC and DC models, featuring a 3-dB bandwidth of 4.9 kHz and a rise/fall time of 72 µs. Although this represents a slightly lower bandwidth and longer transition time compared to the standard BOP M and D models, it ensures stable and reliable current sourcing and sinking capabilities.

The BOP 20-20M series, especially the MC model, is engineered to meet the demands of modern test and measurement applications where load stability and low noise are critical. Its enhanced bandwidth, configurable compensation, and robust performance under capacitive loading conditions make the BOP 20-20M an ideal choice for research, development, and production testing.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
What is the key advantage of the BOP 20-20MC over the standard BOP 20-20M?
The BOP 20-20MC is specifically modified to remain stable when driving capacitive loads up to 10 mF, a significant improvement over the standard BOP 20-20M. Additionally, in voltage mode, the BOP 20-20MC offers approximately 50% lower ripple and noise and a higher bandwidth (e.g., 4.8 kHz with resistive load), making it more suitable for testing sensitive devices like solar panels and piezoelectric transducers.
How can I adjust the bandwidth of the BOP 20-20M for different load conditions?
For the BOP 20-20MC variant, the voltage mode bandwidth can be predictably reduced to optimize frequency response uniformity. This is done by placing an external capacitor across C21 on Assembly A1. According to the bandwidth correction table, adding a 4.7 nF capacitor, for example, will lower the corrected bandwidth to 3.2 kHz under nominal resistive load conditions.
What are the dynamic performance specifications of the BOP 20-20M in current mode?
In current mode, the BOP 20-20MC (derived from BOP 20-20M) shares similar dynamic characteristics with other BOP MC/DC models. It features a 3-dB bandwidth of 4.9 kHz and a rise/fall time of 72 µs. While this is slightly lower in bandwidth and slower in transition time compared to the standard BOP M/D models, it ensures stable operation for current sourcing and sinking applications.
What types of applications is the BOP 20-20M particularly well-suited for?
The BOP 20-20M, especially its MC version, is ideal for applications involving capacitive or capacitive-resistive loads. This includes solar cell and solar panel testing, driving and testing piezoelectric devices, capacitor testing, and powering capacitive transducers. Its enhanced stability with up to 10 mF capacitive loads, configurable bandwidth, and low noise output make it a versatile tool for both laboratory and industrial testing environments.
