Features:
- Delivers 1.5kW (2HP) in a compact 1.8kg package with 170-200% overtorque and 150% braking torque, ideal for conveyors, packaging machines, and small pumps.
- Provides high torque performance at low speeds for asynchronous motors without requiring an encoder, simplifying installation while maintaining precise speed control.
- Features built-in Modbus and CANopen protocols, 3 analog inputs (configurable voltage/current), 6 discrete inputs, 1 analog output, and 2 relay outputs. Supports optional Profibus DP, DeviceNet, and Ethernet communication cards.
The ATV312HU15N4 is engineered for simple machine applications where space is limited but performance cannot be compromised. The transient overtorque capability of 170-200% of nominal torque allows the ATV312HU15N4 to handle demanding start-up conditions, such as conveyors starting under load or small mixers with high-inertia loads. The braking torque reaches 150% for 60 seconds when used with an external braking resistor, enabling rapid deceleration for applications like positioning or emergency stopping.
The ATV312HU15N4 utilizes sensorless flux vector control technology to deliver exceptional motor performance without the cost and complexity of an encoder feedback device. This control method continuously calculates the motor's rotor position and speed using electrical measurements rather than physical sensors. The result is high starting torque—typically 170% of nominal torque—even at very low speeds, enabling applications such as small hoists and elevators to lift loads from standstill. The ATV312HU15N4's sensorless flux vector control also provides stable speed regulation under varying loads, maintaining setpoint speed even when the mechanical load changes.
The ATV312HU15N4 simplifies machine integration with its comprehensive I/O and built-in communication capabilities. Three analog inputs provide flexibility: AI1 accepts 0-10V voltage signals, AI2 accepts ±10V bipolar signals for bidirectional control, and AI3 accepts 0-20mA current signals for long-distance transmission. One analog output (configurable as 0-10V or 0-20mA, 8-bit resolution) allows the drive to send status signals such as motor current, frequency, or power to a PLC or panel meter. Six discrete inputs accept 24V DC signals from sensors, pushbuttons, or PLC outputs, with both positive and negative logic compatibility.
The ATV312HU15N4 SCHNEIDER Variable Speed Drive may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond
End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Material Handling & Conveyors: Small-scale belt conveyors, roller tables, palletizers, and assembly line transport tracks. Its excellent low-speed torque ensures smooth startup under full frictional load.
- Packaging & Labeling Machinery: Automatic bagging machines, wrapping equipment, small filling pumps, and labeling systems requiring rapid, repeatable start/stop cycles.
- Specialist Process Machinery: Small mixers, agitators, commercial food blenders, texturizing machines, textile looms, and small woodworking/ceramic lathes.
- Modbus RTU: Used for direct, low-cost interfacing with localized HMIs, small PLCs, or telemetry units.
- CANopen: Offers cost-effective, high-speed multi-drive linking, typical in modular packaging and material handling lines.
- Logic Inputs (LI1 - LI6): 6 programmable 24V DC inputs (Source/Sink configurable). LI1 is preset for forward running, LI2 for reverse, and others can be mapped to preset multi-speeds (up to 16 speeds) or external fault resets.
- Compliance Marks: Fully certified with CE (Europe), UL (USA), CSA (Canada), NOM (Mexico), and C-Tick (Australia/New Zealand).
- Product Standard: Designed in accordance with IEC/EN 61800-5-1 (Electrical, thermal, and energy safety requirements for adjustable speed power drives).
- Integrated Class A EMC Filter: Features an internal radio interference input filter that conforms to IEC/EN 61800-3 (Category C2). This layout mitigates high-frequency radio-frequency interference (RFI) from bleeding into neighboring low-voltage sensors and control signals, provided the motor cable shielding guidelines are followed.
