Features:
- A local CPU executes the ET 200S control program independently of the DP master cycle.
- Fiber-optic simplex and RS485 connections serve the integrated PROFIBUS DP interface.
- An MMC carries load memory while the CPU provides firmware-dependent work memory.
The IM151-7 CPU FO combines a distributed-I/O head module with its own S7 program execution resources.
Local process images serve the attached modules, while transfer memory carries the data selected for the PROFIBUS master.
Diagnostic and test functions let commissioning separate CPU, I/O and communication conditions.
The Siemens 6ES7151-7AB00-0AB0 ET 200S IM151-7 CPU FO may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Running control logic inside the ET 200S station
- CPU cycle: The integrated processor executes the stored STEP 7 blocks against local process data.
- Input image: Configured module states are collected before the program evaluates them.
- Output image: Calculated results are transferred to the assigned local output addresses.
- Distributed role: Selected data is then exchanged with the higher-level DP master through transfer memory.
Matching the stored project to the installed CPU
- Work memory: Firmware V1.13 or higher provides the documented 48 KB execution area.
- Earlier firmware: Units below that firmware level use the smaller documented work-memory capacity.
- MMC role: The removable card carries load memory and the saved project independently of work memory.
- Replacement check: Firmware level, MMC contents and hardware functional status must describe the same project.
Separating master traffic from engineering access
- Fiber path: The simplex fiber-optic connection carries the documented PROFIBUS DP device traffic.
- RS485 path: The integrated electrical interface provides the specified programming and communication connection.
- Bus speed: The configured PROFIBUS rate can reach the documented 12 Mbit/s maximum.
- Transfer area: Input and output transfer-memory bytes define which local data the master exchanges.
Tracing CPU, module and bus conditions
- Diagnostic buffer: The CPU retains one hundred event entries for commissioning review.
- Block status: STEP 7 can display the execution state of the selected program block.
- Variable control: Supported inputs, outputs, flags, timers, counters and data areas can be monitored.
- Forcing: Selected I/O variables can be forced within the documented test limits.
