Features:
- Onboard digital, analog and technology channels place mixed machine I/O beside the controller program.
- The PROFINET IRT interface includes two switched ports for the configured controller network.
- A SIMATIC Memory Card carries the project used by CPU 1512C-1 PN during operation.
Input states, analog values and pulse trains enter dedicated onboard circuits before the CPU program processes them.
Digital output load groups receive separate 24 V DC feeds, keeping field-load supply paths distinct from controller logic.
Push-in front connectors form the field-wiring boundary for the integrated channels and their commons.

How onboard signals are organized
- Digital inputs: Thirty-two 24 V DC points feed machine states into the CPU image, with selected points also assignable to technology functions.
- Digital outputs: Thirty-two 24 V DC points switch field loads, and designated points can generate PTO, PWM or frequency signals.
- Analog path: Five inputs and two outputs keep process values inside the compact CPU instead of requiring separate signal modules.
- Front connection: Push-in front connectors separate field conductors from the CPU electronics and define the common-terminal groups.
From pulse input to generated output
- Counting: Six high-speed counters accept pulse trains outside the timing limits of ordinary cyclic input evaluation.
- Pulse generation: Four high-speed outputs can be assigned to PTO, PWM or frequency operation in the project.
- Channel assignment: Technology use is configured per supported channel, while unused points remain available as standard digital I/O.
- CPU relationship: Counter values and generated signals exchange data with the user program through configured technology objects.
Controller-network connection
- Two-port switch: Both RJ45 ports belong to the same integrated PROFINET interface and permit line-oriented network wiring.
- IRT service: The interface supports PROFINET IRT for configured cyclic communication with compatible devices.
- Device exchange: Process data from distributed stations enters the CPU through the PROFINET controller relationship.
- Engineering access: Network naming, addressing and project transfer are handled through the configured PROFINET connection.
Where operating conditions are reported
- CPU display: The front display presents CPU state and diagnostic messages without changing the configured program.
- Channel status: Onboard I/O LEDs identify the state of individual points and module-level conditions.
- Diagnostic buffer: Events recorded by the CPU separate controller faults from channel or network reports.
- Web access: The integrated web server can present status and diagnostic information when that service is enabled in the project.
