More Information

Overview Manuals Specifications Timing IMSET01 Checks

Features:

  • Dedicated termination point for the Harmony SOE timing link
  • Documented companion path for the IMSET01 timing module
  • Separate timing role from the NTDI01 process-input termination
NTST01 belongs to ABB's distributed sequence-of-events architecture rather than the ordinary field-input path.

The official system drawing places the unit between the time source and the SOE timing module so events can be correlated by a common timing reference.

Project review should follow the installed timing topology, because the termination and digital-input functions are assigned to different hardware.

Availability of NTST01 is subject to Apter Power's current inventory and sourcing confirmation.

SOE timing architecture

  • Time source: follow the documented satellite-receiver and time-keeper path
  • Termination: use NTST01 for the synchronization link
  • Input path: retain NTDI01 for process digital signals
  • Module route: connect the timing path to the documented IMSET01 architecture

Companion-module review

  • Module identity: verify the installed IMSET01 designation
  • Bus segment: observe ABB's one-IMSET01-per-I/O-expander-segment limit
  • Cable record: preserve the module-to-termination cable reference
  • Event service: validate time correlation after commissioning

Commissioning evidence

  • Clock path: confirm the complete timing-link route
  • Field separation: keep process inputs on their documented termination
  • Event order: review timestamp sequence at the operator interface
  • Records: retain timing-source and cabinet drawings with the spare plan
Description
NTST01 is ABB's time synchronization termination unit for the Harmony sequence-of-events architecture. The official SOE data sheet places it on the timing path between the time-keeper function and the event-input hardware.

Within that architecture, NTST01 provides the time synchronization link connection used by IMSET01, while NTDI01 handles the process digital inputs. This separation preserves the timing and field-signal roles shown in ABB's system diagram.

Before installing NTST01, reconcile the satellite-receiver link, time-keeper routing, companion IMSET01 module, and NTDI01 field termination with the site SOE drawings. Do not substitute a digital-input termination unit for the timing-link termination function.

Technical notes
Trace the timing path before replacing NTST01: ABB assigns time-link termination to this unit, while NTDI01 carries the process inputs connected to IMSET01. Confirm the satellite-receiver route, time-keeper connection, and I/O-expander-bus design; ABB limits one IMSET01 module to each I/O expander bus segment.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
Which time interfaces must engineers preserve when NTST01 connects the SOE timing path?
ABB documents an IRIG-B DC level-shift input and a 62.5 kbaud RS-485 synchronization output through the termination unit; both link endpoints must match the SOE design.
How should cable-distance planning for NTST01 distinguish local cabinet links from the full SOE route?
Use twinaxial cable and apply the separate ABB limits: 4,000 m between HCU cabinets and 40,000 m from the INSOE01 server node to the farthest HCU cabinet.
During an isolation review, which NTST01 withstand values apply at the synchronization-link boundary?
ABB specifies 1,000 VAC at 50 Hz and a 2,000 V peak 1.2/50 microsecond pulse between the synchronization link and IRIG-B input.
If field events remain visible but timestamps drift, where should diagnosis begin around NTST01?
Start with the IRIG-B source and the RS-485 synchronization path, then compare the observed timing route with the approved SOE architecture before disturbing field-input wiring.
Why can a second timing module not simply be added behind NTST01 on the same I/O expander segment?
ABB limits each I/O expander bus segment to one IMSET01 module, so another timing module requires a topology review rather than an additional termination connection.
For an NTST01 quotation, which link evidence is more useful than a part-number-only request?
Provide the installed IMSET01 context, twinaxial cable route, link distances, time-source interface, and the cabinet drawing that identifies both synchronization endpoints.
