Features:
- Interface Between the AC Power Source and DCS880 Drive Power Stage
- Combines Capability of Power Distribution with Overvoltage Protection
- Operates in Conjunction with the SDCS-POW-H01 and Standard DCS880 Control Modules
The SDCS-PIN-H01 3ADT318800R1501 operates as the Power Interface Board in a DCS880 drive system, providing reliable power distribution and connection between the incoming AC power source and the drive power stage within the system. It continuously routes incoming AC power through the interface board to the internal power modules and distributes this power through the drive backplane to support steady state operation of all control and power modules. Seamless power transfer is standard with the SDCS-PIN-H01, however using an optional SDCS-POW-H01 Power Board Configuration will provide additional power conversion and regulation capabilities in the event of complex power requirements. The SDCS-PIN-H01 has made improvements in several areas over previous power interface designs in addition to incorporating universal DCS880 series compatibility within the ABB drive family.
The SDCS-PIN-H01 3ADT318800R1501 provides essential power interface functions common to the entire drive system, and is a critical component of the power distribution path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall DCS880 drive system. One SDCS-PIN-H01 power interface board is required per drive unit depending on the desired power configuration and system size. The SDCS-PIN-H01 occupies a dedicated position in the drive chassis and is always located in the power section of the DCS880 drive (the dedicated power interface slot, the primary power entry point).
For Enhanced Power Distribution applications, the DCS880 System requires the SDCS-PIN-H01 power interface board installed in conjunction with SDCS-POW-H01 power board and SDCS-PIN-H51 measurement board. In addition to standard single board operation, the enhanced configuration also performs automatic power monitoring and protection. The DCS880 enhanced power configuration executes power management using the internal circuitry specified in the SDCS-POW-H01 and SDCS-PIN-H51 options. Using this method, the enhanced power system continually monitors the health of all power components. If the system detects that the primary power path is no longer providing stable output (outside configured voltage/tolerance levels), it will automatically utilize the SDCS-PIN-H41 transformer board to maintain power distribution and place a diagnostic event in the Drive Event Log if configured.
The SDCS-PIN-H01 3ADT318800R1501 ABB Power Interface Board may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Trigger Pulse Distribution: Receives low-voltage control signals from the main control board and precisely distributes them to the gate trigger circuits of high-power thyristors.
- Encoder Feedback Sampling: Monitors the speed and position encoder feedback of the drive system in real time, performs electrical conversion on the underlying data, and uploads it to the control bus.
- Closed-Loop Current Adjustment: Onboard high-precision sensor interface, working with the main control chip to perform millisecond-level closed-loop dynamic adjustment of the hub current of the large DC motor.
- Logic Interlock Protection: Built-in hardware-level emergency blocking logic, which can instantly cut off the thyristor trigger pulse to protect power electronic devices when an external fault is detected.
- High and Low Voltage Isolation: Acts as a bridge between the high-voltage main circuit and the low-voltage control system, providing electrical isolation up to several kilovolts and all-weather withstand voltage operation.
- Power Distribution and Conversion: The module integrates multiple regulated switching power supplies, converting the input external power and outputting it to various driver circuits and onboard chips.
- Wideband Voltage Adaptation: Capable of stable operation under complex grid-side voltage fluctuations, supporting seamless tracking and synchronous operation with mainstream medium- and high-voltage industrial grid frequencies.
- Diagnostic Status Indication: Multiple onboard LED indicators provide real-time feedback on key operating indicators such as power status, pulse output, and channel faults.
- DC Speed Control System: Primarily used as the core high-voltage motherboard and power interface component for mainstream high-power industrial DC speed controllers such as the ABB DCS800 and DCS550.
- Heavy-Duty High-Torque Drive: Widely used in heavy industrial equipment requiring ultra-high starting torque, such as mine hoists, rolling mill main drives, and cement kiln rotary drives.
- Bridge Crane Control: In bridge grab cranes in ports and large workshops, responsible for controlling the frequent four-quadrant acceleration and braking of large winch motors.
- Historical Drive System Upgrade: As a spare part for 3ADT318800R1501, it is used for board replacement and life extension retrofitting of existing DC systems in steel mills and paper mills.
