FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
Can Allen-Bradley 1756-EN2T replace a 1756-ENBT without project changes?
Do not assume a drop-in swap. Confirm controller firmware, module series and firmware, slot path, connection count, multicast behavior, motion use and every configured I/O adapter before changing the project.
Why can Allen-Bradley 1756-EN2T be pinged while EtherNet/IP I/O remains faulted?
ICMP reachability does not prove CIP connections are valid. Check the controller I/O tree, module path, electronic keying, RPI, connection capacity, duplicate IP, switch multicast handling and downstream adapter faults.
Can Allen-Bradley 1756-EN2T be used in a Device Level Ring network?
No. Allen-Bradley 1756-EN2T has a single copper EtherNet/IP interface and does not provide the dual-port embedded switch required for a Device Level Ring. Use a supported ring-capable module such as 1756-EN2TR when DLR connectivity is required.
What network records should be saved before replacing Allen-Bradley 1756-EN2T?
Record the IP settings, chassis slot, series and firmware, controller project path, switch port and VLAN, connection loading, produced/consumed tags, messaging paths and any motion-axis assignments.
Why can Allen-Bradley 1756-EN2T connections drop only during machine startup?
Startup may create a burst of I/O and messaging traffic. Review packet rate, RPIs, multicast flooding, switch queues, connection limits, cable errors and whether several controllers reconnect simultaneously.
What must be confirmed before using Allen-Bradley 1756-EN2T for integrated motion?
Confirm the supported controller family, Logix software and RSLinx versions, module firmware, axis count, network topology, time synchronization and motion-capable drives; ordinary EtherNet/IP communication alone is not sufficient.
Can Allen-Bradley 1756-EN2T be installed in a redundant ControlLogix chassis?
Only when the module series, firmware revision, redundancy firmware bundle and electronic-keying setting are supported by the installed redundancy system. Verify the exact redundancy release documentation before replacing or upgrading the module; matching the catalog number alone is not sufficient.
