Features:
- Interface Between 120V AC Field Signals and FLEX I/O Backplane
- Combines Capability of AC Signal Conversion with Flexible Mounting Options
- Operates in Conjunction with the FLEX I/O System and Various Terminal Base Units
The Allen-Bradley 1794-IA8/A operates as the 120V AC Input Module in a FLEX I/O system, providing reliable digital input conversion for industrial control applications. It continuously converts incoming AC signals (85-132 VAC, 47-63 Hz) to appropriate logic levels and transmits these signals through the FlexBus to support steady state operation of the processor and I/O modules. Seamless integration is standard with the 1794-IA8/A, however using various compatible terminal base units will allow flexible configuration options to meet specific application requirements. The 1794-IA8/A features 8 non-isolated inputs with yellow status indicators in addition to supporting multiple communication protocols within the FLEX I/O architecture.
The 1794-IA8/A provides essential input functions common to the entire control system, and is a critical component of the signal acquisition path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall monitoring and control system. One 1794-IA8/A module is required per 8-point input configuration depending on the desired I/O density.
For expanded I/O applications, the FLEX I/O System allows multiple 1794-IA8/A input modules to be installed alongside other FLEX I/O modules. In addition to standard single module operation, the flexible configuration also performs automatic signal processing. The 1794-IA8/A module executes input conversion using the internal circuitry specified in the module specifications. Using this method, the input module continually monitors the status of all 8 input channels. If the system detects that an input signal transitions from OFF to ON (within the 8.4 millisecond filter time) or ON to OFF (within the 26.4 millisecond filter time), it will automatically update the processor status and provide visual indication through the yellow status LEDs.
The 1794-IA8/A Allen-Bradley 120V ac Input Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
