Features:
- Provides Precise Differential Expansion Measurement Using Ramp Surfaces
- Supports Hermetically-Sealed Alarm Relays With CSA/NRTL/C Approval
- Operates Reliably From 0°C To +65°C And Can Be Stored Between -40°C To +85°C
The Bently Nevada 3300/46-46-04-02-01 Ramp Differential Expansion Monitor is engineered to solve the challenges of measuring differential expansion in very large machines where conventional probe mounting is difficult. By using ramp surfaces, the assembly allows increased monitoring range with smaller proximity probes, providing flexibility in probe installation that standard collar methods cannot achieve.
This monitor assembly uses two proximity probes to capture ramp surface movement on the rotor, accurately detecting both magnitude and direction of differential expansion. The 3300/46-46-04-02-01 includes four configurable alarm setpoints (two over and two under) to alert operators of critical deviations, enhancing safety and machine reliability.
With output impedance at 100 Ω and typical accuracy within ±0.33% of full scale (maximum ±1%), the 3300/46-46-04-02-01 delivers precise measurements even under challenging industrial conditions. Its hermetically-sealed alarm relays and CSA/NRTL/C approvals ensure durability and compliance, making it ideal for turbines, compressors, and large rotating equipment where high precision and flexible installation are required.
The 3300/46-46-04-02-01 Bently Nevada Ramp Differential Expansion Monitor may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Dual Probe Input: This monitor accepts signals from two eddy current probes (Channel A and Channel B), calculating the actual axial displacement by measuring changes in ramp height.
- Rack Mounting: Installed in a Bently Nevada 3300 standard rack. Rack position 1 is fixed for power, position 2 for the system monitor, and the 3300/46 can be installed in any position from position 3 to 14.
- Field Adjustment: Calibration is performed via internal jumpers and potentiometers on the front panel. During installation, the test point voltage must be adjusted using the GAP switch and the system monitor to ensure the probe is in its linear operating range.
- Extended Measurement Range: Utilizing the ramp principle, a large axial displacement can be monitored with a smaller range probe, improving installation flexibility.
- High Precision Processing: Signal conditioning accuracy is typically within ±0.33% of the full range, with a maximum error not exceeding ±1%.
- Self-diagnostic function: Built-in continuous self-test function. When a sensor or cable malfunctions (Not OK), the recorder output can be automatically clamped to 2 mA to allow the control system to distinguish fault signals from normal lower limit signals.
- Firmware Type: The module's firmware is stored in EPROM or microprocessor ROM. The 3300/46 is a module that supports SDI/DDI (Serial Data Interface/Dynamic Data Interface) protocols and can communicate with modern host computers.
- Version Identification: The current module's firmware version number can be read while the system is rack-mounted using the 3300/03 system monitor.
- Hardware Lifecycle: As the 3300 system is nearing the end of its lifecycle, the manufacturer recommends considering integration into the 3500 system or using System 1 software for more advanced predictive maintenance during major upgrades.
