Features:
- Interface Between the 3300 XL Proximity Probe and 3500 Monitoring System
- Combines Capability of Eddy Current Sensing with Armored Cable Protection
- Operates in Conjunction with the 3300 XL Proximitor Sensor and Standard 3500 Monitors
The 330104-05-13-10-02-05 operates as the 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probe in machinery protection systems, providing reliable displacement measurement signals to all monitors within the system. It continuously converts physical gap distance between the probe tip and conductive target surface into precise electrical signals (using -24VDC excitation) and transmits this data through the 1.0 meter standard cable to support steady state operation of all vibration monitors and protection modules. Seamless signal transmission is standard with the 330104-05-13-10-02-05, however using an optional Redundant Sensor Configuration will allow seamless switchover to a backup probe in the event of a primary sensor failure. The 330104-05-13-10-02-05 has made improvements in several areas over previous proximity probe designs in addition to incorporating M10 x 1 thread mounting capability with armor protection within industrial machinery applications.
The 330104-05-13-10-02-05 provides essential measurement functions common to the entire monitoring system, and is a critical component of the protection path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall machinery monitoring system. One or two 330104-05-13-10-02-05 proximity probes are required per measurement point depending on the desired redundancy level. The 330104-05-13-10-02-05 occupies only a single probe mounting position in the machinery housing and is always located at the designated measurement point (typically bearing housings, shaft positions, or critical machinery locations, with 50 mm unthreaded length and 130 mm overall case length).
For Dual Redundant Measurement applications, the 3500 System requires a second 330104-05-13-10-02-05 proximity probe module installed in the redundant position. In addition to standard single probe operation, the redundant configuration also performs automatic switchover. The 330104-05-13-10-02-05 dual probe configuration executes failover using the internal circuitry specified in the monitor options. Using this method, the redundant measurement system continually monitors the health of both probes. If the system detects that the primary 330104-05-13-10-02-05 is no longer providing stable output (outside configured gap voltage/tolerance levels), it will automatically transfer the measurement to the secondary probe and place an event in the System Event List.
The 330104-05-13-10-02-05 Bently Nevada 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probe may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Connectors: Features gold-plated ClickLoc connectors that require only finger-tight torque; they "click" when secure and do not require special tools.
- Mounting: Should be installed in a stable environment with minimal vibration. A 3300 XL Sliding Bracket can be used to accurately gap the probe during installation.
- System Integration: Compatible with the 3300 XL Proximitor Sensor, which can be mounted on a 35 mm DIN rail or in a traditional 4-hole panel configuration.
- Interchangeability: Probes, cables, and sensors are 100% interchangeable without requiring bench calibration, provided they are all 3300 XL 8 mm components.
- Hardware Nature: As an analog eddy current sensor, the probe itself does not have firmware.
- System Updates: If integrated with modern monitoring systems like the Bently Nevada 3500, ensure the configuration software (e.g., Rack Configuration Software) is updated to recognize the 3300 XL 8 mm transducer type.
- Calibration: Standard units are factory-calibrated to AISI 4140 steel; updates to calibration are only necessary if monitoring a different target material.
- Radial Vibration: Monitoring shaft dynamics in high-speed rotating machinery like turbines, compressors, and pumps.
- Axial Position: Measuring thrust position and eccentricity to prevent machinery failure.
- Speed/Keyphasor: Providing timing and phase reference signals for vibration analysis.
- Industrial Environments: Suitable for use in power generation, oil and gas, and aerospace due to its high-temperature resistance (up to +177°C standard).
