Features:
- Interface Between Rotating Machinery and 3500 Rack Monitoring System
- Combines Capability of Velocity Measurement with Piezoelectric Sensing Technology
- Operates in Conjunction with the M Series and Standard 3500 Monitors
The 330500-02-02 operates as the Velomitor Piezo-velocity Sensor in industrial monitoring applications, providing reliable velocity measurement data to all compatible modules within the 3500 system. It continuously converts mechanical vibration velocity into proportional electrical signals and transmits this data through the monitoring chain to support steady state operation of all monitors and modules. Seamless signal integration is standard with the 330500-02-02, however using an optional Redundant Sensor Configuration will allow seamless switchover to a backup sensor in the event of a primary sensor failure. The 330500-02-02 has made improvements in several areas over previous velocity sensor designs in addition to incorporating ATEX agency approval capability within hazardous area applications.
The 330500-02-02 provides essential sensing functions common to the entire monitoring path, and is a critical component of the vibration monitoring system, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall machinery protection system. One or two 330500-02-02 sensors are required per measurement point depending on the desired redundancy level. The 330500-02-02 features a compact design with M8 x 1 thread mounting thread adaptor for secure installation and is always located at the machinery bearing housing (the dedicated measurement position).
For Dual Redundant Sensor applications, the 3500 System requires a second 330500-02-02 sensor module installed in the redundant position. In addition to standard single sensor operation, the redundant configuration also performs automatic switchover. The 3500 dual sensor configuration executes failover using the internal circuitry specified in the monitor options. Using this method, the redundant sensor system continually monitors the health of both sensors. If the system detects that the primary 330500-02-02 is no longer providing stable output (outside configured signal/tolerance levels), it will automatically transfer the monitoring load to the secondary sensor and place an event in the System Event List.
The 330500-02-02 Bently Nevada Velomitor Piezo-velocity Sensor may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Zero-Wear Solid-State Efficiency: Utilizing a piezoelectric design rather than old-fashioned moving-coil velocity pickups, it contains no internal moving parts. This entirely eliminates internal friction, mechanical fatigue, and sticking, ensuring a virtually limitless operational lifespan with zero maintenance.
- Omnidirectional Mounting: The sensor supports a full 360-degree orientation range. It can be installed vertically, horizontally, or at any oblique angle without impacting its baseline measurement accuracy or calibration.
- Long-Distance Telemetry: Engineered with a low output impedance (\(< 2,400\ \Omega\)), it supports running standard shielded twisted-pair field cabling up to 305 meters (1,000 feet) to the monitoring rack without signal attenuation.
- Rolling-Element Bearing Monitoring: Highly efficient at capturing the localized high-frequency stress waves and impacting signatures generated by micro-pitting, spalling, and inner/outer race defects in ball or roller bearings.
- General Machinery Protection: Deployed as the primary vibration tracking system on mid-sized or balance-of-plant machinery where internal non-contact eddy current probe installations are mechanically impractical or cost-prohibitive.
- Vibration Diagnostic Support: Captures dynamic casing velocity waveforms and spectrums, enabling predictive maintenance teams to diagnose classic mechanical faults such as rotor unbalance, structural misalignment, mechanical looseness, and blade/impeller pass frequencies.
- Bearing housings of heavy-duty industrial centrifugal fans, ID/FD blowers, and air-handlers.
- Process-critical multi-stage centrifugal pumps and water-injection systems.
- Large induction motors, low-speed gearboxes, and small industrial steam turbines.
