Features:
- 84661-22 provides 22-foot armored 2-conductor 22 AWG shielded cable for Velomitor sensor connectivity.
- Stainless steel armor resists crushing and abrasion; moisture-resistant connector prevents ingress at sensor end.
- Terminal lugs at monitor end; supports cable runs up to 305 meters without signal degradation.
The 84661-22 is engineered for permanent installation in demanding industrial environments where standard cables would quickly fail. The stainless steel armor provides a robust protective layer that resists crushing from heavy equipment, abrasion against sharp metal edges, cutting from tools, and impact damage from falling objects. This makes the 84661-22 ideal for turbomachinery monitoring applications where cables are routed along machine frames, through cable trays with other heavy cables, or in areas with foot traffic. The armor also provides protection against rodents that may gnaw on unprotected cables. Despite its rugged construction, the 84661-22 remains flexible enough for installation in tight spaces.
The 84661-22 uses 22 AWG (0.5 mm²) shielded twisted conductors to ensure clean, noise-free transmission of the low-level accelerometer signal. The Velomitor sensor produces a voltage output proportional to casing velocity, and these relatively low-level signals are susceptible to electromagnetic interference from nearby sources such as variable frequency drives, motor starters, large contactors, and radio transmitters. The twisted pair configuration cancels out common-mode noise induced equally on both conductors, while the overall shield provides an additional barrier against external electric fields.
The 84661-22 is terminated with terminal lugs at the monitor end, simplifying permanent wiring to Bently Nevada monitors and data acquisition systems. Terminal lugs provide a secure, low-resistance connection when fastened to screw-type terminal blocks, eliminating the need for field stripping and tinning of small-gauge wire. This reduces installation time and the risk of wiring errors. The 2-conductor configuration accommodates the signal and ground connections typical of Velomitor sensors.
The 84661-22 Bently Nevada Armored Cable may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond
End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Oil & Gas (Upstream & Downstream): Deployed on critical turbo-expanders, offshore drilling pumps, centrifugal compressors, and gas pipeline transmission stations.
- Power Generation Utilities: Links velocity sensors mounted on large steam turbines, hydro-generators, gas turbine casings, and balance-of-plant (BOP) fans.
- Heavy Industrial Processing: Essential for monitoring massive motor-driven assemblies in steel processing plants, pulp and paper mills, and mining facilities (e.g., cooling towers, gearboxes, blowers).
- Structural Fluid Piping: Utilized to analyze vibration stress induced by high-pressure, turbulent fluid loops in municipal water handling or petrochemical refining facilities.
- Transducer Interface (HTVS End): Terminated with a molded, 2-socket moisture-resistant female connector that plugs directly into the Velomitor’s top terminal connection. The specialized elastomer boot effectively locks out ambient moisture, oil, and steam.
- Monitor Interface (Receiver End): Finished with standard terminal ring lugs designed for seamless wiring into the input/output (I/O) termination blocks of machinery monitoring racks.
- Signal Preservation (Twisted Pair & Shielding): The 22 AWG copper conductors are tightly twisted to cancel out electromagnetic interference (EMI). An integrated tinned-copper drain wire and foil/braid shielding drain radio frequency interference (RFI) to ground, keeping low-amplitude AC velocity or 4-20mA signals pristine over its 22-foot run.
- Hazardous Area Classifications: When installed alongside a certified Bently Nevada Velomitor through proper galvanic isolators or zener barriers, the cable assembly complies with Intrinsically Safe (IS) protocols. This allows safe routing through Zone 0, Zone 1, and Zone 2 (Class I, Div 1 and Div 2) hazardous environments containing explosive gas or dust.
- Physical Armor Safeguards: The outer stainless steel interlocking armor sleeve offers heavy physical protection. It acts as a safety shield that prevents accidental mechanical severing, weld-splatter burn-through, severe crushing, and rodent damage. This removes the regulatory need to run individual external conduits in many standard installations.
