Features:
- Bridge Between Temperature Sensors and 3500 Rack Backplane
- Merges RTD/Thermocouple Signal Conditioning with Multi-Channel Monitoring
- Functions Alongside the M Series and Standard 3500 Monitors
The 3500/61E 285694-02 operates as the Temperature Monitor Module in a 3500 rack, providing precise temperature measurement and monitoring for all connected sensors within the system. It continuously processes incoming temperature signals from RTD and thermocouple inputs and transmits conditioned data through the rack backplane to support accurate thermal state tracking of all rotating machinery components. Independent channel operation is standard with the 3500/61E, however using an optional Redundant Sensor Configuration will allow continued monitoring through backup inputs in the event of a primary sensor failure. The 3500/61E has made improvements in several areas over previous temperature module designs in addition to incorporating enhanced signal processing capability within the 3500 rack.
The 3500/61E provides essential temperature monitoring functions common to the entire rack, and is a critical component of the protection path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall monitor system. One or more 3500/61E temperature modules are required per rack depending on the desired channel count and monitoring coverage. The 3500/61E occupies a single full-height slot in the rack and can be located in any available monitor slot position.
For Multi-Point Temperature Monitoring applications, the 3500 System requires additional 3500/61E 285694-02 temperature modules installed in available rack slots. In addition to standard single module operation, the expanded configuration also performs comprehensive thermal mapping. The 3500 multi-module configuration executes coordinated monitoring using the internal circuitry specified in the module options. Using this method, the distributed temperature system continually monitors the thermal health of all channels. If the system detects that any monitored point exceeds configured alarm setpoints (outside specified temperature/tolerance levels), it will automatically trigger relay outputs and place an event in the System Event List.
The 3500/61E 285694-02 Bently Nevada Temperature Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Legacy Upgrades: Its primary application is retrofitting existing 3300/30 and 3300/35 systems, allowing users to upgrade to the 3500 platform while utilizing existing I/O infrastructure.
- Continuous Monitoring: Provides real-time data for high-speed machinery like gas turbines, compressors, and motors.
- Redundancy: Suitable for Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) configurations where high-reliability voting logic is required for auto-shutdown protection.
- Configuration Software: All firmware updates and parameter configurations (like alarm setpoints and sensor types) are handled via the 3500 Rack Configuration Software (Version 4.0 or later).
- Support Portal: Official firmware releases are managed through the Bently Nevada Tech Support Portal.
- Update Precaution: When replacing older I/O modules with newer revisions, the monitor firmware must be updated to the latest version. CRITICAL: The I/O module should be removed before initiating the firmware upgrade to avoid "I/O Module Mismatch" errors.
- Operating Temperature: Generally -20°C to +65°C (-4°F to +150°F). Some documentation for internal barrier versions limits the range to 0°C to +65°C.
- Storage Temperature: -30°C to +85°C (-22°F to +185°F).
- Humidity: Up to 95% non-condensing.
- Installation Note: If the ambient temperature is expected to exceed 40°C (104°F), custom cabinet designs are recommended by Bently Nevada to ensure heat dissipation.
