Features:
- Six-Channel Temperature Monitoring with RTD and Thermocouple Input Support
- Provides Recorder Outputs for Each of Its Six Individual Channels
- Functions Identically to the 3500/60 with the Added Benefit of Channel Recording Capability
The 3500/61 136711-02 serves as a dedicated temperature monitoring module within the 3500 rack, providing six channels of temperature monitoring and accepting both Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) and Thermocouple (TC) temperature inputs. The 3500/61 136711-02 conditions these inputs and compares them against user-programmable alarm setpoints to enable real-time temperature oversight and early warning functionality. The 3500/61 136711-02 and the 3500/60 deliver identical core monitoring functionality, however the 3500/61 136711-02 uniquely provides recorder outputs for each of its six channels while the 3500/60 does not. The 3500/61 136711-02 has been designed to integrate seamlessly within the 3500 rack architecture and supports flexible input configuration through dedicated I/O module variants.
The 3500/61 136711-02 performs essential temperature measurement functions for machinery protection applications, and is a critical component of the monitoring path, directly affecting the accuracy and reliability of thermal condition assessment across the entire monitor system. One 3500/61 136711-02 module occupies a single full-height slot in the rack and is installed in the standard monitor slots alongside other 3500 series modules.
For Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) applications, the 3500 System requires three 3500/61 136711-02 temperature monitor modules installed adjacent to each other in groups of three. In addition to standard single module operation, the TMR configuration also performs dual voting mechanisms. The 3500 TMR temperature monitoring system executes redundancy validation using the internal circuitry specified in the monitor options. Using this method, the redundant monitoring system continually cross-checks the outputs of all three 3500/61 136711-02 modules. If the system detects a discrepancy indicating that one 3500/61 136711-02 module is no longer providing accurate readings (outside configured tolerance levels), it will automatically employ voting logic to ensure accurate operation, avoid single-point failures, and place an event in the System Event List.
The 3500/61 136711-02 Bently Nevada Temperature Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Machinery Protection: Primarily used to monitor radial and thrust bearing metal temperatures in accordance with API 670 standards.
- Process Monitoring: Tracks critical process variables such as compressor suction/discharge temperatures, steam temperatures, and motor stator temperatures.
- Critical Environments: Deployed in high-risk sectors including oil & gas, petrochemicals, and power generation.
- Digital Communication: While the 3500/61 itself processes signals, it communicates rack data (measured values and statuses) to external systems (PLCs/DCS) via a 3500/91 or 3500/92 Communication Gateway.
- Protocols: Supports standard industrial protocols including Modbus (Serial/TCP) and proprietary Bently Nevada protocols for configuration and condition monitoring.
- Recorder Outputs: Unlike the 3500/60, the /61 version provides six individual 4-20 mA recorder outputs (proportional to full-scale) for direct connection to external strip chart recorders or data loggers.
- Software Interface: Seamlessly connects to System 1 Condition Monitoring software for advanced diagnostic HMI and trend analysis.
- Alarm Logic: Features user-programmable Alert and Danger setpoints for each of the six channels, adjustable from 0 to 100% of full-scale with 0.13% accuracy.
- Self-Diagnostics: Continuously monitors the health of the module and its connected transducers. It can automatically suppress channel operation if a failure is detected to prevent false trips.
- Triple Modular Redundant (TMR): Supports TMR configurations where monitors are installed in groups of three. This utilizes voting logic to ensure accurate operation and eliminate single-point failures in critical shutdown applications.
- Status Indicators: Front-panel LEDs (OK, TX/RX, and Bypass) provide immediate visual feedback on module operation and communication status.
