The CTI 901B-2589-A is a versatile discrete input module designed for use in CTI 2500 Series® or Simatic® 505 I/O bases. It can be configured for 8, 16, or 32 input points, making it adaptable for a wide range of industrial control applications, including motor centers, optical sensors, limit switches, and utility controls. Its broad voltage acceptance of 12–250 VAC/VDC allows users to mix AC and DC signals within a single module.
This module provides 1500 VDC channel-to-backplane and group-to-group isolation, ensuring safe operation and protecting the PLC backplane from voltage spikes. Inputs can be configured as sourcing or sinking, and group isolation is selectable in blocks of 4 or 8 points, providing flexibility depending on system design requirements.
The 901B-2589-A can replace multiple Simatic® 505 input modules, including 4008-A, 4016-A, 4032-A, 4208-A, 4216-A, 4232, and others, without rewiring, reducing installation time and simplifying system upgrades. The module is a single-wide form factor with removable connectors supporting 14–22 AWG wiring, and it draws a maximum of 3.6 W from the backplane.
Designed for industrial environments, the module operates from 0°C to 60°C, with storage capability from –40°C to 85°C. It withstands 5–95% non-condensing humidity and is pending approvals from UL, ULC, FM (Class 1, Div.2), and CE. Turn-on and turn-off response times are optimized: AC inputs switch on in 4 ms and off in 15 ms, while DC inputs turn on in 1 ms and off in 15 ms, ensuring rapid response for automation control tasks.
