Features:
- Four analog current inputs for 0–20 mA or 4–20 mA loops
- Approximately 2 ms update time for all channels
- 12-bit conversion with optical separation from backplane logic
IC693ALG221 is the compact four-loop current-measurement option for Series 90-30 systems.
Range selection is physical and applies to channel pairs, which makes jumper records important during module exchange.
The controller receives refreshed measurement words while the external loop circuits provide the process current.
The General Electric IC693ALG221 Series 90-30 4-channel analog current input module may remain available for quotation and installed-system support from Apter Power.

Current-loop conversion
- Selectable spans: Jumpers choose 0–20 mA or 4–20 mA operation.
- Paired settings: Two channels share each range-selection arrangement.
- Resolution: Input current is represented with 12-bit conversion.
- Update cycle: The module refreshes all four measurements in about 2 ms.
Loop and shield practice
- Cable type: Twisted shielded conductors reduce interference on the analog inputs.
- Loop source: The field transmitter or loop supply provides the measured current.
- Shield termination: A consistent single-point shield strategy helps avoid ground-loop noise.
- Polarity: Each current-loop connection follows the marked input polarity.
Isolation and common mode
- Optical barrier: Field inputs are optically separated from Series 90-30 logic.
- Common-mode tolerance: Protection is provided for common-mode voltage up to 200 V under reduced-performance conditions.
- System grounding: Excessive potential difference should be corrected rather than treated as normal measurement practice.
- Fault tracing: A full-scale or zero reading is checked against loop power, polarity, range jumpers, and wiring continuity.
Supported measurements
- Pressure transmitters: Four-wire or loop-powered pressure signals can be acquired in the selected current range.
- Flow monitoring: Industrial flow transmitters supply stable 4–20 mA values to the PLC.
- Level control: Tank and vessel level loops can be processed with other Series 90-30 logic.
- Temperature conversion: Current-output temperature transmitters can occupy any of the four channels.
