Features:
- Interface Between the CPU Core Processing Unit and UR Series Universal Relay Backplane
- Combines Capability of Advanced Protection Logic Execution with Ethernet Communication and Redundancy Support
- Operates in Conjunction with the UR Series Universal Relays Including Feeder, Transformer, Motor, Generator, and Busbar Protection Modules
The UR9GH operates as the Central Processing Unit in a UR series universal relay, providing reliable computational power and firmware execution environment for all protection and control functions within the system. It continuously processes incoming analog and digital signals, executes configured protection algorithms, and manages communication protocols through the relay backplane to support steady state operation of all I/O modules and monitoring functions. Seamless communication redundancy is supported with the UR9GH, as using the Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) allows seamless switchover to a backup network path in the event of a primary Ethernet failure. The UR9GH has incorporated advanced networking capabilities including 10Base-F fiber optic Ethernet and IEEE 1588 time synchronization, in addition to supporting RS485 serial communication and Modbus TCP/IP, DNP, and other protocols within the UR relay system.
The UR9GH provides essential processing functions common to the entire relay, and is a critical component of the protection and control path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall relay system. One UR9GH CPU module is required per relay chassis, and it must be matched with compatible CT/VT modules and the appropriate chassis type. The UR9GH occupies the dedicated CPU slot position within the relay chassis and is always configured as the central processing element.
For Dual Redundant Network applications, the UR system can leverage the PRP capability integrated within the UR9GH to maintain communication continuity. In addition to standard single network operation, the redundant configuration performs automatic switchover. The UR dual network configuration executes failover using the internal Ethernet circuitry specified in the CPU module options. Using this method, the redundant network system continually monitors the health of both communication paths.
The UR9GH General Electric CPU Processor Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
