Features:

  • High-Density 16-Channel Redundancy
  • Mechanical Polarization & Error Prevention
  • Hazardous Area Ready (Zone 2/Div 2)
The ICS-TRIPLEX T9832 supports up to 16 independent analogue input channels in a dual configuration. This allows two T9432 modules to monitor the same field device, enabling 1oo2D voting for critical process variables without consuming extra cabinet space.

Equipped with a physical coding peg system (positions 2-1-3), the ICS-TRIPLEX T9832 prevents the insertion of incorrect module types (e.g., digital output modules). This hardware-level interlock eliminates common wiring errors during hot module replacement in a running safety system.

Certified for ATEX/IECEx Ex ec IIC T4 Gc and Class I Division 2 environments, the ICS-TRIPLEX T9832 allows direct termination of field signals from explosive atmospheres. It must be installed in an IP54 tool-accessible enclosure, ensuring operator safety during maintenance.

The T9832 ICS Triplex Analogue Input Termination Assembly may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Description
The ICS-TRIPLEX T9832 serves as the critical interface between field sensors and the T9432 analogue input module within the AADvance architecture. Engineered specifically for dual (1oo2D) configurations, this termination assembly allows two independent I/O modules to monitor a single field loop, ensuring fault tolerance without single points of failure. Its 16-channel capacity supports high-density analog signal termination while maintaining channel-to-channel isolation.

Designed for functional safety and critical control, the ICS-TRIPLEX T9832 supports 4-20 mA loop-powered or self-powered transmitters. The assembly integrates seamlessly with the T9300 I/O base unit, utilizing a polarization keying system to prevent incorrect module mating. For applications requiring emergency shutdown (ESD) or fire and gas (F&G) protection, this TA provides the necessary field wiring organization and fusing to maintain loop integrity under fault conditions.

The ICS-TRIPLEX T9832 complies with global hazardous location certifications (ATEX, IECEx, Class I Div 2). Its robust design operates across a -25°C to +60°C temperature range, making it suitable for remote skid-mounted installations. As a "dual" termination assembly, it is the essential hardware component for users needing to migrate from simplex (T9831) to redundant I/O architectures without changing the field termination footprint.

Technical notes
ICS-TRIPLEX T9832 requires pairing with T9432 analogue input modules for dual-channel redundancy; it is not compatible with T9431 simplex modules. The assembly features integral overcurrent protection and coding pegs (positions 2-1-3) to prevent accidental insertion of digital I/O modules.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
I am experiencing a channel fault on ICS-TRIPLEX T9832. What are the diagnostic slewing limits?
If the input current slews too rapidly during sustained abnormal conditions, the T9432 module may declare a channel fault on ICS-TRIPLEX T9832 to maintain safety accuracy. To avoid spurious trips, ensure the input signal slew rate does not exceed the criteria defined in the AADvance Solutions Handbook, or implement appropriate filtering in the process safety time.
Can ICS-TRIPLEX T9832 handle HART communication signals?
While ICS-TRIPLEX T9832 provides the physical electrical connection for 4-20 mA loops, the AADvance system supports HART pass-through functionality via the T9432 module and DTM (Device Type Manager - T9033). The termination assembly itself acts as a passive conduit, so HART frequency signals will pass through ICS-TRIPLEX T9832 without attenuation if the loop impedance is maintained below 500Ω.
Is ICS-TRIPLEX T9832 compatible with third-party DCS systems?
ICS-TRIPLEX T9832 is a passive termination assembly specific to the Rockwell Automation AADvance controller platform. It interfaces directly with the T9432 I/O module. While the loop-powered 4-20 mA signal is analog, the digital data from the connected T9432 module can be exposed to third-party DCS via MODBUS TCP or OPC DA (Data Access) from the AADvance controller’s Ethernet ports.
My system requires SIL 3. Can I use ICS-TRIPLEX T9832 in a triple (TMR) configuration?
No. For Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) configurations requiring three modules voting (2oo3D), you must use the ICS-TRIPLEX T9833 termination assembly. ICS-TRIPLEX T9832 is strictly a 2-slot dual configuration. Using T9832 for TMR will leave the third module electrically disconnected.
