Features:
- Integrates serial field devices with the Foxboro Evo control database.
- Uses a Master and Tracker pair for redundant field-device communication.
- Configures each of four ports separately for RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485.
Foxboro FBM231 P0926GV separates the four serial interfaces so one module can serve devices that use different electrical standards.
The termination assembly keeps field wiring in place while the redundant modules exchange Master and Tracker roles.
Serial data is converted into DCI block values for the Foxboro control database rather than being passed as an unstructured byte stream.
The Foxboro FBM231 P0926GV Redundant Field Device System Integrator Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Four-port serial interface
- Independent setup: Each port can use its own electrical standard and serial parameters.
- RS-232: Direct links are limited by the documented point-to-point distance.
- RS-422: Balanced serial wiring supports longer direct connections.
- RS-485: A multidrop segment can serve as many as sixty-four devices.
Master and Tracker operation
- Paired modules: Two FBM231 modules share one field-device interface.
- Active role: The Master handles current serial communication.
- Standby role: The Tracker follows the active path and is available for role transfer.
- Termination path: Field wiring remains on the common termination assembly during a role change.
Control-database exchange
- DCI capacity: The module supports as many as 2,000 DCI block connections.
- Analog data: Serial values can be mapped into analog points.
- Digital data: Individual and packed digital states can be transferred.
- Port allocation: Mapping follows the protocol driver and device assignment configured for each port.
Cable and power boundaries
- Module cable: The FBM231-to-termination-assembly cable is one to five metres.
- RS-232 reach: A custom RS-232 link is limited to fifteen metres.
- Balanced reach: RS-422 and RS-485 connections can extend to 1,200 metres.
- Supply path: Redundant 24 V DC feeds power the module pair.
