More Information

Overview Manuals TA Selection Input Behavior Redundant Service Application
  • Handles 32 discrete field inputs through a selected TA
  • Choose the TA for the actual voltage and contact-sense method
  • Match filtering, redundancy and field power before installation

FBM217 is selected for high-density discrete status acquisition where the termination assembly defines the field-voltage interface.

The electronic module alone does not determine whether the installation monitors 30 VDC, 125 VDC, 120 VAC or 240 VAC inputs.

Before replacement, document the main and expansion TAs, cable types, wetting supply, isolation groups and any RH926ZY redundant adapter.

Availability, condition, price, and shipping time for FBM217 are confirmed during quotation.

  • Choose the TA from the actual field voltage and sensing method
  • Confirm group isolation and external excitation needs
  • Keep main and expansion TA identities with the asset record
  • Configure debounce for the connected contact or sensor
  • Use pulse counting only within the documented rate
  • Verify wetting voltage and commons before software changes
  • Install RH926ZY only for the documented redundant arrangement
  • Check master and tracker health before maintenance
  • Prove all 32 points after a controlled switchover
  • High-density status and contact acquisition
  • Mixed-voltage discrete monitoring through selected TAs
  • Redundant Foxboro discrete input service
Description
Foxboro FBM217 converts 32 field contact or voltage states into data for the redundant Module Fieldbus.

Selected TAs provide current limiting, high-voltage attenuation, optical isolation and field-power connections appropriate to the actual signal class.

Configurable filtering supports stable state detection, while sequence-of-events and pulse-count functions can be assigned where the control database requires them.

Technical notes
FBM217 is the Foxboro DCS functional designation; RH914TR is the current electronic-module part number. Input voltage, isolation and field wiring depend on the selected TA, so verify the module, TA, cable and controller configuration before replacement.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
How should a buyer select the correct TA for Foxboro FBM217?
Match the field signal class, contact-sense or voltage-monitor method, wetting supply, isolation groups, terminal style and required certifications to the official TA table.
Can Foxboro FBM217 accept 30 VDC and 240 VAC directly on the same TA?
Do not infer that from the module name; the installed TA defines the permitted signal class and channel arrangement.
When is the RH926ZY adapter required with Foxboro FBM217?
Use the documented redundant adapter when the system design uses a redundant FBM217 module pair connected to the termination assembly.
Why can one input group on Foxboro FBM217 fail while others operate?
Check that group’s TA circuitry, field supply or wetting voltage, common, cable path and database mapping because isolation and power are TA-dependent.
How should filter time be chosen for Foxboro FBM217?
Set the shortest value that rejects the real contact bounce or electrical noise without hiding required pulses or delaying protection and sequence logic.
What should be recorded before replacing Foxboro FBM217?
Record RH914TR or legacy module identity, baseplate slot, main and expansion TAs, cable numbers, field voltages, group commons, filter settings and redundancy state.
What acceptance test is required for Foxboro FBM217?
Exercise all 32 inputs using their real signal classes, verify polarity and group isolation, confirm filter and event behavior, then test redundant recovery where installed.
