Features:
- 20 freely assignable keys with 40 LEDs, numeric keypad, 8 cursor keys, and 320x240 graphic LCD display.
- Edge monitoring for 1024 bits, 3 priority levels, first/last message, logging (CAME/WENT/ACKNOWLEDGED), and RecipeManager (255 blocks × 255 forms).
- IP65 front, IP20 rear, 24V DC operation, reverse polarity protection, and wide temperature range (0 to +50°C operating).
The PCS 950 WIN MPI/Profibus-DP is a complete standalone operator console. It features 20 freely assignable function keys (F1–F20), each with a green and yellow LED for status indication (ON, DARK, FLASHING, INVERSE FLASHING). A numeric keypad allows direct preset value entry, while 8 control keys with LEDs support menu navigation and cursor movement. The graphic LCD display (320x240 pixels, 24 lines x 40 characters) can show background bitmaps, fixed texts with integrated variables (9 variable formats), and up to 214 PLC words as variables plus 55 internal variables. This rich I/O and display capability eliminates the need for separate keypads, indicator lights, and text displays.
The PCS 950 WIN MPI/Profibus-DP handles complex messaging and recipe tasks independently, significantly reducing PLC program size. It monitors up to 1024 consecutive bits for rising or falling edges, organizing events into three priority levels (information, warnings, faults). The console manages first message and last message tracking, with individually settable clearing behavior. Message logging records CAME, WENT, and ACKNOWLEDGED times, storing them in a logging memory for display (HISTORY) or printing (MESSAGE PRINTER). The RecipeManager supports 255 recipe blocks, each with 255 forms. Recipes can be managed via PCS dialogs or under PLC control, storing equipment parameters product‑related. This offloads the PLC from managing large recipe databases.
The PCS 950 WIN MPI/Profibus-DP is built for harsh industrial environments. The front panel is rated IP65 – dust‑tight and protected against low‑pressure water jets – making it suitable for food processing, machine tools, and outdoor installations. The rear is IP20, requiring cabinet mounting for protection. The console operates on 24V DC ±20% with reverse polarity protection, consuming 800 mA (1.0 A max with optional cassettes). A 1.25 A slow‑blow fuse (with spare) protects against overcurrent. Vibration resistance is 3g at 50 and 100 Hz in all directions for at least one hour. Operating temperature range is 0 to +50°C, with storage from -25 to +70°C.
The PCS 950 WIN MPI/Profibus-DP LAUER Operator Console may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Siemens S7 System Integration: With its built-in MPI (Multi-Point Interface) and Profibus-DP interface, it is the ideal third-party HMI solution for S7-300 and S7-400 control systems.
- Complex Machinery Control: Possesses powerful graphics processing capabilities, suitable for packaging machinery, machine tool processing, and production line monitoring.
- Data and Recipe Management: Supports complex recipe editing, data recording, and alarm handling, suitable for process industries requiring frequent changes in production parameters.
- Communication Diagnostics: The system has a built-in communication status monitor that can detect the node status of the MPI or Profibus network in real time. If the connection with the PLC is lost, an alarm message will immediately pop up on the screen.
- Power Protection: Equipped with reverse polarity protection and surge current limiting to prevent damage to electronic components from unstable industrial power supplies.
- Data Protection: Equipped with internal non-volatile memory (NVRAM) to ensure that critical formula data and system parameters are not lost in the event of a sudden power outage.
- Standard rack-mount installation is used.
- Heat Dissipation Requirements: Ensure sufficient space is left behind the unit during installation to avoid placing it in close contact with high-heat-generating components (such as inverters) to prevent screen aging or slowdown at high temperatures.
