Features:
- A 32-bit RISC processor executes general open- and closed-loop control tasks.
- Two coded X5 groups can be assigned as binary, absolute-encoder, or incremental-encoder inputs.
- Program and retained data are divided among the memory module, DRAM, and buffered SRAM.
Siemens 6DD1600-0AJ0 runs the configured CFC control program from its PM5 processing hardware.
Coding connectors on 6DD1600-0AJ0 assign the two X5 signal groups before wiring is commissioned.
The seven-segment display of 6DD1600-0AJ0 identifies the CPU number or the current error class.

Program and Runtime Storage
- Program module: MS5 or MS51 stores the compressed loadable program and EEPROM data.
- DRAM: Expanded program code, operating-system data, communications buffers, and trace functions use DRAM.
- Buffered SRAM: Battery backup retains exception diagnostics, saved process quantities, and optional message or trace data.
- Loading: The program reaches the memory module through an offline adapter or the online serial path.
Coded Signal Group Selection
- Group one: Pins 1 to 4 are assigned together as binary inputs or the first encoder.
- Group two: Pins 5 to 8 are assigned together as binary inputs or the second encoder.
- Coding rule: Only one coding connector is permitted in each socket row.
- Interface modules: SB10 or SU10 serves encoder use, while SB60 or SB61 supports isolated binary-input conversion.
Commissioning and Online Loading
- Connector: X01 is a fixed nine-pin RS232 V.24 service interface.
- Protocol: DUST1 communication operates at the documented 19.2 kbaud rate.
- Commissioning: CFC or IBS uses the port to test and commission the user program.
- Online load: A PC can load the user program through the inserted program-memory module.
Seven-Segment Diagnostic States
- Normal state: The display shows the configured CPU number from one to eight.
- Initialization: A zero indication identifies initialization faults and distinguishes local from other modules by flashing behavior.
- Recoverable states: Monitoring and task-administrator codes can be acknowledged when their conditions permit.
- Fatal state: A flashing or steady H distinguishes a fatal fault on this module from another module.
