Features:
- One Gigabit Ethernet port and four switched Fast Ethernet ports divide network connections.
- PROFINET IO controller functions support real-time and isochronous real-time data exchange.
- Flash and RAM file systems provide storage for FTP, web and configuration services.
Siemens 6GK7443-1GX20-0XE0 links an S7-400 CPU to Industrial Ethernet communication and PROFINET IO device data.
S7 communication, ISO transport, TCP/IP, UDP and RFC1006 use defined processor connection resources beside the cyclic controller traffic.
The module receives 5 V DC from the S7-400 backplane and occupies one standard rack width in an IP20 environment.
The Siemens 6GK7443-1GX20-0XE0 CP 443-1 Advanced Communications Processor may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Separated Ethernet Connection Roles
- Gigabit path: The first RJ45 interface carries 10/100/1000 Mbit/s Industrial Ethernet traffic.
- Switched segment: Four additional RJ45 ports form an integrated 10/100 Mbit/s switch for connected network devices.
- Port separation: The Gigabit interface and four-port switch expose distinct physical paths for controller, plant, and service traffic.
- Processor services: All five ports reach the communications processor while retaining their assigned interface structure.
Cyclic Controller Data Exchange
- Controller role: The module operates as a PROFINET IO controller with RT and IRT communication.
- Device exchange: Up to 128 IO devices exchange cyclic data with the S7-400 CPU through the processor.
- Data direction: The controller interface allocates up to 4 KiB for input data and 4 KiB for output data.
- Redundancy path: MRP organizes media redundancy independently of the cyclic IO data allocation.
Protocol Resource Assignment
- S7 communication: Up to 128 configured S7 connections serve automation partners through dedicated processor resources.
- Open communication: TCP, UDP, ISO, and RFC1006 share a separate pool of up to 64 connections.
- Transport services: FTP client, FTP server, HTTP, and email functions use their assigned service connections.
- Resource separation: Cyclic PROFINET IO traffic and general Ethernet services keep independent capacity limits.
File Areas and Rack Integration
- Flash area: The 30 MiB flash file system retains stored files and web content without using temporary RAM.
- RAM area: The 16 MiB RAM file system provides working space for temporary file operations.
- Backup area: A separate 512 KiB region retains configuration information outside the active file workspace.
- Backplane integration: The single-width module receives its 5 V DC operating supply from the S7-400 rack backplane.
