More Information

Overview Manuals Specifications Cnet Termination Cable Paths Network Review

Features:

  • SPNIS Cnet termination
  • Twinaxial or coaxial media support
  • Defined cabinet and node cable paths
NTCL01 forms the ABB termination point between a Cnet communication path and the SPNIS network-interface module.

Depending on architecture, NTCL01 supports coaxial or twinaxial network media and uses documented cable assemblies for the module and inter-cabinet connections.

Successful maintenance of NTCL01 depends on preserving the whole cable route, including adapters, terminators and the installed network medium.

Availability for NTCL01 is subject to Apter Power's current inventory and sourcing confirmation.

Description
ABB NTCL01 is a communication termination unit for the Symphony Plus HR Series. Its defined system role is to terminate the control-network, or Cnet, connection serving an SPNIS network-interface module.

Network media for ABB NTCL01 may be twinaxial or coaxial. ABB documents NKLS01 or NKLS11 between the termination unit and SPNIS, with additional cable families selected according to node-to-node, cabinet-to-cabinet or older plant-loop architecture.

Before replacing ABB NTCL01, record the installed cable medium, network topology and every adapter or terminator in the path. A physically similar connector does not establish the correct Cnet cable or operating context.

Technical notes
Treat NTCL01 as part of the complete Cnet media path, not as an isolated terminal board. Match SPNIS through the documented NKLS01 or NKLS11 cable, then identify whether the network uses coaxial or twinaxial links and any NKCL, NKTL, NKTT or NKPL assemblies. Record terminators and adapters before disturbing communication wiring.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
Why must the Cnet termination role of NTCL01 remain aligned with SPNIS during replacement?
Changing the termination path without preserving the SPNIS relationship, medium and topology can interrupt the documented communication link.
What changes in an NTCL01 replacement plan when the installed Cnet route uses coaxial rather than twinaxial media?
Retain the applicable adapters, terminators and interconnecting cables for the selected medium instead of treating both physical paths as identical.
How does NTCL01 connect to SPNIS?
ABB identifies NKLS01 as the PVC-insulated module cable and NKLS11 as the non-PVC alternative.
Why must adapters be recorded before replacing NTCL01?
Some coaxial cabinet paths use adapter and interconnecting cable combinations; omitting one element can break the intended topology.
When can an older plant-loop cable appear with NTCL01?
ABB documents NKPL01 twinaxial cable primarily for older plant-loop networks, so the existing network type must be confirmed.
How should intermittent Cnet faults be isolated around NTCL01?
Inspect the SPNIS cable, medium type, terminators, adapters, inter-cabinet links and connector condition as one documented communication path.
