The ABB FDNA-01 DeviceNet Adapter Module is an optional communication device designed to integrate ABB drives into DeviceNet networks. It enables the drive to operate as a Class 2 slave, allowing seamless network connectivity for monitoring, control, and data exchange in industrial automation systems.
With the FDNA-01 module installed in the drive’s option slot, users can send control commands such as Start, Stop, and Run Enable, provide motor speed or torque references, and transmit actual process values to the drive’s PID controller. Additionally, it allows reading of status information, actual values, modification of drive parameters, and fault resets, making system integration both flexible and efficient.
The module uses explicit messaging, poll-response, and change-of-state/cyclic services, ensuring reliable DeviceNet communication. Its multi-drop topology supports network transfer rates of 125, 250, or 500 kBit/s, and the module communicates via a 20-pin connector to the drive and a removable 5-pole screw-type bus connector. Three bicolor LEDs provide clear indication of host, module, and network status.
Designed for robust industrial environments, the FDNA-01 module operates with input voltages from the drive (3.3 V DC ±5%) and network (24 V DC nominal), with typical current consumption of 180 mA from the drive and 20 mA from the network. It features IP20 protection, compact mounting, and ABB’s trusted reliability standards for DeviceNet connectivity.
