Features:
- Onboard Active Bus Termination Control
- Galvanically-Isolated RS-485 Physical Interface
- Pre-Defined Modbus Register Mapping Architecture
The ABB RMBA-01 is equipped with a built-in, active-type termination network that successfully dampens signal reflections across long network runs. Managed via an onboard S1 DIP switch, it eliminates the need for manual, external resistor wiring at network endpoints, provided the module remains powered by the drive to keep the active circuitry operational.
To withstand aggressive industrial environments, the ABB RMBA-01 implements comprehensive galvanic isolation between the Modbus fieldbus link and the drive control circuitry. This robust electrical barrier stops harmful ground loop currents and transient voltage spikes from damaging the internal RMIO control board, maintaining network integrity.
The ABB RMBA-01 structures all transmission data sets and internal drive parameters into standard Modbus 4xxxx holding registers. This pre-defined framework natively translates drive parameters into a direct 4GGPP format (where GG represents the group and PP represents the parameter), significantly shortening the time required for PLC or SCADA programming.
The RMBA-01 ABB Modbus Adapter Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
