The SDCS-CON-2 Control Board is built around the 80186EM microprocessor and DC94L01 ASIC, serving as the central control unit for ABB DCS500/DCS600 converters. It consolidates key functions including program/parameter storage, measurement, thyristor firing control, and system monitoring, with dedicated memory components (Flash PROMs and static RAM with backup capacitor) ensuring data retention and program flexibility.
Equipped with two RS485 communication channels (for field exciter and control panel interaction) and an integrated DDCS channel (up to 4 Mbit/s), the board supports seamless connectivity with fieldbus modules and 12-PULE LINK setups. A built-in watchdog function safeguards system stability by resetting critical components in case of program faults, while a seven-segment display provides real-time drive status feedback.
The board works in tandem with the SDCS-POW-1 power supply board, distributing and monitoring multiple voltage levels to ensure reliable operation. It meets robust environmental specifications (storage: -40°C to +55°C, transport: -40°C to +70°C, 5–95% non-condensing humidity) with IP 00 protection and Pollution Degree 2 rating, suitable for industrial environments.
