Features:
- Interface Between the Integrated Safety System and Compact GuardLogix Rack Backplane
- Combines Capability of Standard PAC Control with Integrated Safety and Motion Functions
- Operates in Conjunction with the CompactLogix I/O Modules and GuardLogix Safety Devices
The Allen-Bradley 1769-L36ERMS operates as the Compact GuardLogix Controller in a 5370 platform rack, providing reliable integrated control and safety functions to all modules within the system. It continuously processes standard automation tasks while simultaneously executing safety functions up to SIL 3 and PL e certifications, and distributes control commands through the rack backplane to support steady state operation of all monitors and modules. Seamless safety integration is standard with the 1769-L36ERMS, however using an optional Redundant Safety Configuration will allow seamless switchover to a backup safety routine in the event of a primary safety system failure. The 1769-L36ERMS has made improvements in several areas over previous controller designs in addition to incorporating universal Ethernet I/P connectivity and motion control capability within the Compact GuardLogix rack.
The 1769-L36ERMS provides essential control functions common to the entire rack, and is a critical component of the safety monitoring path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall safety and control system. One 1769-L36ERMS controller is required per rack depending on the desired control and safety integration level. The 1769-L36ERMS occupies the central controller position in the rack and is always located in the dedicated controller slot.
For Dual Ethernet Communication applications, the 1769-L36ERMS System requires the built-in dual Ethernet ports supporting DLR, Linear, and Star topologies. In addition to standard single network operation, the redundant communication configuration also performs automatic network failover. The 1769-L36ERMS dual Ethernet configuration executes failover using the internal circuitry specified in the controller communication options.
The 1769-L36ERMS Allen-Bradley Controller Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
