Features:
- Electrical Interface Between Field Wiring and Flex I/O Adapter Modules
- Combines Cage Clamp Termination Technology with High-Density Terminal Configuration
- Operates in Conjunction with the 1794 Series Flex I/O Adapters and I/O Modules
The 1794-TB2 1794-TB2/A operates as the standard terminal base in a Flex I/O system, providing reliable wire termination for all I/O modules within the station. It continuously secures field wiring connections (0.21 mm² to 1.3 mm², 24 to 16 AWG) and distributes signals through the backplane interface to support steady state operation of all adapters and I/O modules. Stable signal transfer is standard with the 1794-TB2, with its 18 common terminals and 2 dedicated voltage terminals enabling organized termination of multiple field devices. The 1794-TB2/A has made improvements in wiring density and termination security over previous terminal base designs in addition to incorporating standardized cage clamp technology within the Flex I/O architecture.
The 1794-TB2 provides essential termination functions common to the entire I/O station, and is a critical component of the signal path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall control system. One 1794-TB2 terminal base is required per I/O module in the Flex I/O station depending on the specific configuration requirements. The 1794-TB2 occupies the physical mounting position beneath each I/O module and is always installed in conjunction with the corresponding adapter module.
For expanded I/O applications, the Flex I/O System requires additional 1794-TB2 terminal bases installed for each I/O module in the station. In addition to standard single module termination, the modular configuration also performs organized signal routing. The 1794-TB2/A terminal base configuration executes connectivity using the internal clamping mechanism specified in the terminal specifications. Using this method, the terminal base system continually maintains secure contact with field wiring. If the system detects that a wire connection requires maintenance (outside proper torque or engagement levels), it allows for tool-free retermination and ensures continuous operation of the I/O station.
The 1794-TB2 1794-TB2/A Allen-Bradley Flex I/O Terminal Base may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
