Features:
- Interface Between the Operator and Strip Guiding Control Systems
- Combines Capability of HMI Operation with Real-Time Parameter Adjustment and Monitoring
- Operates in Conjunction with the EMG iCON® and SPC16 Control Systems
The EMG ECU01.5 operates as the dedicated Human-Machine Interface in strip guiding applications, providing reliable control and visualization for all connected modules within the system. It continuously facilitates interaction between operators and electronic control units/line scan cameras, converting manual inputs into precise control commands and distributing operational data through the control architecture to support steady state operation of all strip guiding components. Seamless parameter adjustment is standard with the EMG ECU01.5, however its integration into automated control loops allows seamless adaptation to changing strip positions during high-speed production cycles. The EMG ECU01.5 has made improvements in several areas over previous HMI designs in addition to incorporating robust industrial-grade construction within harsh production environments.
The EMG ECU01.5 provides essential interface functions common to the entire strip guiding system, and is a critical component of the monitoring path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall alignment system. One EMG ECU01.5 unit is required per control station depending on the desired operational scope. The EMG ECU01.5 occupies a dedicated position in the control architecture and is always located as the central operator interface (the dedicated HMI position for parameter setting and measured value monitoring).
For Dual Control Mode applications, the EMG ECU01.5 supports multiple operational modes including manual, center, automatic, and external control. In addition to standard single interface operation, the versatile configuration also performs automatic mode switching. The EMG ECU01.5 multi-mode configuration executes control transitions using the internal circuitry specified in the control system options. Using this method, the EMG ECU01.5 continually monitors the health of strip position signals. If the system detects that the strip alignment is no longer within configured tolerance levels, it will automatically alert operators and enable immediate parameter adjustments to maintain proper material positioning.
The EMG ECU01.5 Touch screen may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- System Monitoring: It monitors equipment status in real-time to detect faults or anomalies early, facilitating timely maintenance and repair.
- Environmental Protection: The unit is housed in a rugged aluminum case that provides high resistance to shock, vibration, and industrial corrosion.
- Anti-Condensation: It features a built-in space heater function designed to prevent moisture from condensing on internal electronic components, which is critical for maintaining stability in humid conditions.
- Power Requirements: Operates on a 12V DC power supply.
- Reliability: Engineered for high-stability performance despite external industrial stressors like dust or electrical interference.
- Form Factor: Its compact and durable design allows for door-mounting or integration into control cabinets, where it connects via an RS232 interface using the Modbus RTU protocol.
- Strip Guiding Systems: It is used to control material alignment (edge or center) on uncoilers, recoilers, and through treatment lines to prevent product damage and ensure straight lateral surfaces on coils.
- Industrial Automation: It serves as a control panel for monitoring various operating parameters—such as speed, temperature, and pressure—across the power, automobile, and elevator industries.
- Quality Assurance: In conjunction with sensors like the CCDpro or CCD CAM 100, it displays real-time measurement values and allows operators to adjust parameters for high-precision manufacturing. .
