Features:
- Counts pulse or quadrature inputs at rates up to 50 kHz independently of PLC scan.
- Preset and ring modes support position, rate, and bounded-count applications.
- A local open-collector output can react to preset conditions without CPU latency.
The module consumes input and output reference space for commands, counts, and status, but the physical pulse processing occurs locally. This separation prevents fast edges from being missed by the normal scan.
DIP settings select how the two inputs are interpreted. Direction errors can result from swapped quadrature phases or an up/down configuration that does not match the sensor.
The immediate output is a low-power open-collector point, not an unrestricted actuator source. Confirm polarity, external supply, and load current before using it to trigger equipment.

Choosing how pulse inputs are interpreted
- Quadrature: A and B phase establish movement and direction.
- Up/down: Separate inputs increment and decrement the accumulator.
- Preset mode: A defined count can trigger local action.
- Ring mode: The accumulator operates within configured rollover boundaries.
Conditions for reliable high-speed counting
- Voltage class: Match the input to the sensor electrical level.
- Pulse rate: Keep frequency and pulse width within the supported limits.
- Shielding: Route and terminate the counter cable to reduce noise.
- Phase order: Preserve quadrature conductor identity during replacement.
Using the local preset reaction safely
- Open collector: The module switches a compatible external DC load.
- Current limit: Do not exceed the point rating.
- Polarity: Wire the external source and load for the intended logic.
- Interposing device: Use a relay or driver when the field load is too large.
Proving the counter against machine motion
- Zero reference: Establish a known physical starting position.
- Direction test: Move slowly in both directions and compare counts.
- Scale check: Verify pulses per unit across a measured distance.
- Preset test: Confirm output action at a safe operating speed.
