Features:
- Connection Hub for Turbine Emergency Trip Signals and Mark VIe Control System
- Integration of Passive Pulse Rate Sensing with TMR Voted Trip Output Capability
- Functions Alongside the WREA Option Card and Turbine I/O Packs
The General Electric IS200TREAH1A Turbine Emergency Trip Terminal Board serves as the dedicated interface for turbine emergency trip functions within the Mark VIe system, providing reliable connectivity for all speed monitoring and trip modules. It continuously processes signals from six passive pulse rate devices supporting up to three shafts with two sensors each, detecting toothed wheel rotation to measure turbine speed, and transmits this data through the WREA option card to support steady state operation of the turbine control system. Seamless speed signal processing is standard with the IS200TREAH1A, however using its three TMR voted 24 V DC solid-state output contacts will allow immediate system tripping in the event of an emergency condition. The IS200TREAH1A has made improvements in several areas over previous terminal board designs in addition to incorporating comprehensive voltage detection and contact input capabilities within the Mark VIe rack.
The IS200TREAH1A provides essential emergency trip functions common to the entire turbine protection path, and is a critical component of the safety system, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall turbine control system. One IS200TREAH1A terminal board is required per WREA option card installation depending on the desired I/O configuration. The IS200TREAH1A is mounted directly to the WREA card and is always positioned with the configuration jumper row at the bottom to ensure proper keyed connector alignment.
For applications requiring comprehensive trip monitoring, the Mark VIe system utilizes the IS200TREAH1A terminal board installed with the WREA option card. In addition to standard speed monitoring operation, the IS200TREAH1A configuration also performs automatic voltage detection across four circuits monitoring 24-125 V DC trip strings. The IS200TREAH1A trip monitoring system executes conditional and hardware trips using the internal circuitry specified in the terminal board options. Using this method, the IS200TREAH1A continually monitors the health of all trip inputs and speed signals. If the system detects that turbine speed exceeds operational limits or trip conditions are activated, it will automatically trigger the solid-state output contacts and transmit status through the RS-232 or RS-422 speed repeater outputs.
The IS200TREAH1A General Electric Turbine Emergency Trip Terminal Board may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Hazardous Locations: Meets ATEX (Directive 2014/34/EU) and IECEx standards for operation in Zone 2 / Class I, Division 2 explosive atmospheres.
- Functional Safety: Complies with IEC 61508 standards, supporting up to a SIL 2 (Safety Integrity Level) configuration via its Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) voting patterns.
- Quality & Manufacturing: Built under ISO 9001 certified processes with multi-layer PCB layout and surface-mount technology (SMD) optimized for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
- Industrial Controls: Conforms to standard UL and CE industrial safety guidelines.
- Dynamic Hardware Verification: Features an integrated read-only ID device chip. When connected via the JX1, JY1, or JZ1 cables, the I/O pack queries this chip to verify the hardware type, serial number, and revision index. A mismatch generates a hardware incompatibility alarm.
- Firmware Controls: Any functional changes—such as Rate-Based Overspeed Protection (RBOS) or trip parameter restrictions—are updated directly through the firmware of the master Mark VIe I/O Pack.
- Updating Software: System configurations, trip parameters, and linked I/O pack firmware revisions are loaded and maintained exclusively using GE’s standard ToolboxST software suite.
- Gas Turbine Protection: Acts as the primary emergency interface for GE Frame 6, 7, and 9 gas turbines.
- Steam Turbine Control: Manages mechanical overspeed and emergency shutdown sequences on large power-generation steam turbines.
- Speedtronic Mark VIe Systems: Serves as the dedicated hardware termination block for the Mark VIe emergency protection core.
- Emergency Trip Logic: Interfaces directly with physical trip solenoids to dump hydraulic oil pressure and close fuel valves instantly.
