Features:
- One two-port scanner connects each remote I/O rack to the redundant HC900 controller network.
- The scanner represents the complete rack rather than an individual analog or digital channel.
- Remote I/O values travel to the controller while output commands and status return through the configured paths.
Honeywell 900C73R-0100-44 coordinates the communication boundary between one remote rack and the redundant controller.
Both ports of 900C73R-0100-44 must match the network topology, cabling, and rack assignment stored in the project.
The I/O cards beside 900C73R-0100-44 retain their own terminal blocks and field wiring.
The Honeywell 900C73R-0100-44 ControlEdge HC900 Two-Port Redundant I/O Scanner may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

One Scanner for Each I/O Rack
- Rack assignment: Each remote I/O rack uses one scanner module.
- Rack scope: The scanner exchanges data for every configured module installed in its rack.
- Input direction: Analog and digital input values move from the rack toward the controller.
- Output direction: Controller commands return through the scanner to the rack output modules.
Two Network Paths to the Controller
- Port count: Two communication ports create the redundant rack-network connection.
- Path identity: Both links belong to the same scanner and remote-rack assignment.
- Failure isolation: A single-path fault is investigated without treating the rack I/O cards as the first cause.
- Topology match: Cable routing and controller-side connection must follow the saved redundant topology.
Scanner, Power and I/O Relationship
- Rack sizes: HC900 remote assemblies are selected with 4, 8, or 12 I/O slots.
- Power arrangement: Selected standard or redundant power hardware supplies the rack backplane.
- I/O modules: Analog and digital cards occupy rack slots and connect to their own terminal blocks.
- Scanner terminal: The scanner itself does not require a separate field terminal block.
Identity and Configuration Retention
- Article identity: The complete 900C73R-0100-44 code must match the required redundant scanner.
- Rack mapping: The configured rack number and installed module order must remain unchanged.
- Port wiring: Both network paths must return to their documented controller-side connections.
- Commissioning: Controller diagnostics should confirm the rack and every configured I/O module after exchange.
