Features:
- Interface Between the Gas Supply System and Burner Control Unit
- Combines Capability of Gas Pressure Monitoring with ATEX Certified Safety Shutdown
- Operates in Conjunction with the EX-DGM Series and Standard Honeywell Burner Management Systems
The EX-DGM506 operates as the ATEX Certified Gas Pressure Monitor in a burner management system, providing reliable gas pressure monitoring and safety shutdown for gas-fired equipment within the system. It continuously converts incoming gas pressure signals (15-60 mbar) to regulated electrical switch outputs and distributes this safety status through the control circuit to support steady state operation of all burner control and flame safeguard functions. Seamless pressure monitoring is standard with the EX-DGM506, however using an optional Service Function Configuration will provide additional diagnostic capabilities and maintenance flexibility in demanding industrial environments. The EX-DGM506 has made improvements in several areas over previous gas pressure switch designs in addition to incorporating universal 15-60 mbar pressure range capability with DIN EN 1854 and ATEX 2014/34/EU certification within the Honeywell FEMA product family.
The EX-DGM506 provides essential gas pressure monitoring functions common to the entire burner control system, and is a critical component of the safety interlock path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall combustion system. One EX-DGM506 pressure monitor is required per gas supply line depending on the desired safety integrity level and system configuration. The EX-DGM506 occupies a dedicated mounting position on the gas train and is always located upstream of the main gas valve (the dedicated pressure monitoring point, the primary safety shutdown interface).
For Dual Redundant Gas Pressure Monitoring applications, the Burner Management System requires a second EX-DGM506 pressure monitor installed in the redundant gas supply line. In addition to standard single monitor operation, the redundant configuration also performs automatic cross-verification for critical combustion safety applications. The dual pressure monitor configuration executes comparison using the internal safety logic specified in the burner control options. Using this method, the redundant gas pressure system continually monitors the health of both pressure channels. If the system detects that the primary EX-DGM506 is no longer providing stable pressure indication (outside configured 15-60 mbar/tolerance levels), it will automatically initiate safety shutdown and place an event in the Burner Management System Fault Log.
The EX-DGM506 Rated Gas Pressure Monitor may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
