Features:
- Interface Between the Safety Manager Controller Chassis and Quad Processing Architecture
- Combines Capability of High-Performance Safety Processing with Redundant Control Support
- Operates in Conjunction with the Safety Manager System and Standard Safety I/O Modules
The FC-QPP-0001 V1.3 operates as the Quad Processor Pack in a Safety Manager system, providing reliable processing power to all modules within the controller chassis. It continuously executes safety logic operations and critical control functions, distributing processing capabilities through the chassis backplane to support steady state operation of all safety monitors and I/O modules. Seamless processing continuity is standard with the FC-QPP-0001 V1.3, however using an optional Redundant Processor Configuration will allow seamless switchover to a backup processor in the event of a primary processor failure. The FC-QPP-0001 V1.3 has made improvements in several areas over previous processor designs in addition to incorporating advanced quad-core processing architecture within the Safety Manager chassis.
The FC-QPP-0001 V1.3 provides essential processing functions common to the entire chassis, and is a critical component of the safety control path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall safety system. One or two FC-QPP-0001 V1.3 processor modules are required per chassis depending on the desired redundancy level. The FC-QPP-0001 V1.3 occupies a dedicated slot in the controller chassis and is always located in the designated processor slot position.
For Dual Redundant Processing applications, the Safety Manager System requires a second FC-QPP-0001 V1.3 processor module installed in the redundant slot. In addition to standard single processor operation, the redundant configuration also performs automatic switchover. The Safety Manager dual processor configuration executes failover using the internal circuitry specified in the processor options. Using this method, the redundant processing system continually monitors the health of both processors. If the system detects that the primary FC-QPP-0001 V1.3 processor is no longer providing stable output (outside configured performance/tolerance levels), it will automatically transfer the control load to the secondary processor and place an event in the System Event List.
The FC-QPP-0001 V1.3 HONEYWELL Quad Processor Pack Control Processor module may still be available for purchase and support from authorized distributors beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Emergency Shutdown (ESD) Systems: Initiates safe plant shutdowns during critical process deviations.
- Fire and Gas (F&G) Systems: Monitors hazard detectors and manages localized suppression systems.
- Burner Management Systems (BMS): Governs safe startup, operation, and shutdown of industrial furnaces and boilers.
- Critical Control & Interlocking: Implements fail-safe operation in highly complex process interlocks.
- Conformal Coating: The "V1.3" specific variant comes conformal coated to protect internal circuits from dust, moisture, and chemical corrosion.
- Temperature & Humidity: Typically handles standard indoor industrial cabinet ranges of 0°C to 60°C (32°F to 140°F) with a non-condensing relative humidity tolerance up to 95%.
- Cabinet Installation: Housed inside a dedicated, pre-determined slot within the Controller chassis, often within distributed control system (DCS) enclosures.
- Electrical Continuity: Supports Hot-Swapping / Online Replacement. A faulty module can be exchanged under power while the secondary redundant module maintains live process control.
- Execution Control: Reads field I/O inputs, executes user-designed Functional Logic Diagrams (FLDs), and drives output interfaces.
- Internal Hardware Watchdog: Features duplicate internal processors and memory sets. Hardware data-comparators check every single read/write action; any discrepancy instantly trips the watchdog to force a fail-safe state.
- Diagnostic Coverage: Dedicated test hardware delivers a diagnostic coverage greater than 99%, allowing continuous SIL3 operation without time limitations.
- Self-Educating Updates: When a replacement module is hot-swapped into a redundant chassis, it automatically updates its software and embedded firmware directly from the running online processor.
