Overview Manuals Connector Map I/O Bus Setup Power & Watchdog Installation Checks

FS-CPB-0001 is the controller backplane installed in Honeywell CPCHAS-0001. It forms the electrical interconnection point for the two Control Processor positions and routes controller-side power, communication and chassis signals.

Honeywell documents the controller chassis for both redundant and non-redundant configurations. Selection and replacement should therefore begin with the installed chassis revision, controller arrangement and the connected I/O architecture.

The rear side separates CP1 and CP2 services. Each processor side has an RJ45 Ethernet channel and a 10-pin general-purpose communication channel, while dedicated 24 VDC inputs feed CP1 and CP2 independently.

Additional chassis connections include IN1–IN3 for general-purpose non-safety 24 V signals and the two-pin SD connector for the emergency-shutdown signal.

Four I/O bus pairs are presented as IO bus1.1–1.4 from CP1 and IO bus2.1–2.4 from CP2. These eight flat-cable connectors route controller communication to the connected I/O chassis.

Honeywell assigns TERM-0001 to non-redundant I/O layouts and TERM-0002 to redundant layouts. Match the terminator and cable arrangement to the configured architecture before energizing the chassis.

The backplane receives separate 24 VDC feeds for the CP1 and CP2 sections. It also connects 5V-1 and 5V-2 and combines the two power-supply outputs as 5V-R for non-redundant I/O availability while at least one power supply remains in operation.

Eight WdP connectors carry watchdog and power signals to I/O chassis positions 1 through 8, allowing the controller chassis to distribute the required monitoring and supply signals across the I/O structure.

Before replacement, isolate the controller chassis and record the existing CP1/CP2 module placement, communication connections, 24 VDC feeds, four paired I/O bus cables, WdP outputs, SD input and IN1–IN3 wiring.

Confirm the CPCHAS-0001 revision and redundant or non-redundant design, then verify every cable label and the TERM-0001 or TERM-0002 selection against the Honeywell hardware reference before commissioning.

Description

Honeywell FS-CPB-0001 is the controller backplane fitted inside the CPCHAS-0001 chassis for redundant or non-redundant Safety Manager/FSC control processor configurations. Its front side provides keyed connectors for Control Processor modules, while its rear side provides communication, power, watchdog, general-purpose input and emergency-shutdown connections.

The backplane distributes separate 24 VDC feeds to CP1 and CP2, combines the power-supply 5V-R outputs for non-redundant I/O availability, and provides four pairs of controller I/O buses with positions for TERM-0001 or TERM-0002 terminators.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
What is Honeywell FS-CPB-0001?
Honeywell FS-CPB-0001 is the CPB-0001 controller backplane inside the CPCHAS-0001 controller chassis. It interconnects the Control Processor modules and the chassis communication, power, I/O bus and watchdog interfaces.
Which chassis uses the FS-CPB-0001 backplane?
The FS-CPB-0001 backplane is used in the Honeywell CPCHAS-0001 controller chassis, which supports redundant or non-redundant controller configurations.
How many I/O buses are provided by FS-CPB-0001?
The backplane provides four I/O bus pairs. Each pair contains one bus from CP1 and one bus from CP2, identified as IO bus1.1–1.4 and IO bus2.1–2.4.
Which I/O bus terminators are used with FS-CPB-0001?
Honeywell specifies TERM-0001 for non-redundant I/O bus connections and TERM-0002 for redundant I/O bus connections. The installed architecture must be checked before selecting a terminator.
What connections are available on the FS-CPB-0001 backplane?
The documented connections include CP1/CP2 communication interfaces, separate 24 VDC feeds, 5 V distribution, eight watchdog/power outputs, four I/O bus pairs, three general-purpose 24 V inputs and the SD emergency-shutdown input.
Is Honeywell FS-CPB-0001 discontinued?
Honeywell identifies the FSC platform as discontinued and replaced by Safety Manager. Honeywell lifecycle guidance states that FSC moved to Legacy on March 1, 2021 and the remaining coax products were phased out effective December 31, 2025.
Is Safety Manager a direct drop-in replacement for FS-CPB-0001?
No direct backplane substitution is stated by Honeywell. Honeywell describes an engineered migration in which the FSC controller is replaced by Safety Manager while compatible FSC Series 2 I/O and field wiring may be retained, so chassis, controller, software and I/O compatibility require review.
What information is needed to request an FS-CPB-0001 quote?
Provide the complete FS-CPB-0001 model, CPCHAS-0001 chassis and revision details, redundant or non-redundant configuration, I/O bus and terminator arrangement, required quantity and delivery destination.
