Features:
- Interface Between the Trusted System and External Communication Networks
- Combines Capability of Intelligent Communication Processing with Triple Modular Redundancy Support
- Operates in Conjunction with the Trusted TMR Processor and Engineering Workstation
The T8151B operates as the Trusted Communications Interface in a Trusted system, providing intelligent relay functionality between the Processor, other Trusted Systems, the Engineering Workstation and third-party equipment. It continuously processes communication data via the triplicated Inter-Module Bus and transmits responses through all three channels to support fault-tolerant distributed operation of the entire system. Seamless data voting is standard with the T8151B, with the module's bus interface voting the data 2 out of 3 (2oo3) from the Inter-Module Bus when polled by the Trusted TMR Processor. The T8151B has made improvements in several areas over previous communication interface designs in addition to incorporating Motorola Power PC processor capability within the Trusted rack.
The T8151B provides essential communication functions common to the entire rack, and is a critical component of the system architecture, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall Trusted system. One T8151B module is required per system depending on the desired communication capability. The T8151B occupies a dedicated slot in the chassis and receives dual redundant +24 Vdc power feed from the chassis backplane.
For fault-tolerant communication applications, the Trusted System utilizes the T8151B with its on-board power supply unit providing voltage conversion, supply conditioning and protection. In addition to standard communication processing, the T8151B also performs real-time kernel services. The T8151B watchdog system executes monitoring using the internal circuitry specified in the module options. Using this method, the T8151B continually monitors the health of processor operation and the power supply unit output voltages. If the system detects that the processor is no longer operating correctly or PSU outputs are outside tolerance levels, the watchdog will take appropriate protective action and ensure system integrity.
The T8151B ICS Triplex Digital input module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
