Features:
- Interface Between the Control Network and Modicon M340 Automation Platform
- Combines Capability of High-Speed Processing with CANopen Communication Support
- Operates in Conjunction with the M340 Series I/O Modules and Application-Specific Channels
The Schneider Electric BMXP3420302 operates as the Processor Module in a Modicon M340 rack, providing reliable control and data processing for all modules within the system. It continuously manages up to 1024 discrete I/O points and 256 analog I/O points in multi-rack configurations, distributing processing power through the rack backplane to support steady state operation of all I/O modules and application channels. Seamless communication transfer is standard with the BMXP3420302, however using an optional Redundant Configuration will allow seamless switchover to a backup processor in the event of a primary module failure. The BMXP3420302 has made improvements in several areas over previous processor designs in addition to incorporating CANopen transparent ready capability within the M340 rack.
The Schneider Electric BMXP3420302 provides essential control functions common to the entire rack, and is a critical component of the automation path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall control system. One BMXP3420302 processor module is required per rack depending on the desired I/O capacity. The BMXP3420302 occupies a dedicated slot in the rack and supports up to 4 racks with 11 slots per rack configuration.
For Extended I/O applications, the Schneider Electric BMXP3420302 processor module supports multi-rack expansion with distributed I/O management. In addition to standard single rack operation, the multi-rack configuration also performs automatic I/O addressing. The BMXP3420302 multi-rack configuration executes data exchange using the internal CANopen circuitry specified in the processor options. Using this method, the distributed I/O system continually monitors the health of all connected racks. If the system detects that a remote I/O rack is no longer communicating (outside configured response/tolerance levels), it will automatically flag the fault in the diagnostic register and place an event in the System Event List.
The BMXP3420302 Schneider Electric Processor Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
