Features:
- Operates as a CPU 414H member of an S7-400H or S7-400F/FH controller pair.
- Separates 768 KB of work memory into equal code and data sections.
- Uses two fieldbus interfaces and two independent synchronization interfaces.
Partner synchronization is carried through dedicated connections instead of sharing the MPI/DP or PROFIBUS DP routes.
The processor retains the project in flash load memory and executes it from separately allocated code and data work areas.
Its complete order number identifies the earlier 768 KB CPU 414H configuration used in redundant S7-400 stations.
The Siemens 6ES7414-4HJ00-0AB0 CPU 414H Central Processing Unit may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

How the redundant CPUs work together
- CPU Members: The station uses two H CPUs as the redundant processing pair.
- Program Alignment: Synchronization traffic keeps the processing states of the two CPUs coordinated.
- Fieldbus Continuity: MPI/DP and DP communication remain available as separate process-network paths.
- System Scope: The CPU belongs to S7-400H and S7-400F/FH controller arrangements.
Dedicated partner-link structure
- Dual Connections: Two synchronization interfaces provide separate links between the paired CPUs.
- Traffic Boundary: Partner data does not use the normal MPI/DP or PROFIBUS DP interface.
- Link Identity: Synchronization modules and cables must match the S7-400H connection design.
- CPU Matching: Both sides of the redundant pair must be checked against the installed CPU order number and firmware.
Communication processors in the H station
- Firmware Check: CP support is evaluated against the CPU 414H firmware level used by the station.
- Rack Assignment: Each communication processor belongs to the rack and CPU path defined in the H configuration.
- Network Role: CP communication remains distinct from the CPU-pair synchronization path.
- Configuration Record: The hardware configuration must identify the exact CP, rack position, and CPU member.
Program storage inside the CPU
- Code Area: 384 KB of work memory holds executable program blocks.
- Data Area: A separate 384 KB section contains data blocks and runtime values.
- Load Memory: Flash memory retains the configured project outside the active work areas.
- Execution Flow: Blocks are loaded from project storage and executed from the CPU work memory.
