Features:
- The CS14 assembly couples one SIMADYN D master rack to as many as eight CS22 slave racks.
- One CS12 and two ICS1 modules occupy three adjacent rack slots.
- Fiber links extend the L and C bus data path over point-to-point distances up to 200 m.
The coupling memory on the CS12 makes transferred data available to the connected slave racks with equal priority.
Two ICS1 sections provide the fiber connection capacity that distinguishes CS14 from CS12 and CS13.
Timing and interrupt signals travel from the master together with the shared data needed by the coupled racks.
The Siemens 6DD1660-0BA0 SIMADYN D CS14 Coupling Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Extending the SIMADYN D bus between subracks
- Master assembly: CS14 resides in the master rack and originates the fiber-optic coupling.
- Slave access: Connected CS22 modules present the transferred memory to their slave racks with equal priority.
- Bus path: The coupling carries the documented L-bus and C-bus information.
- Rack limit: SR6(V) is excluded because its C-bus-only arrangement does not meet the CS14 path requirement.
Relating the three slots to the fiber capacity
- CS12 core: The CS12 provides control and the 128 KB transfer memory.
- First ICS1: One ICS1 section supplies fiber connections for part of the slave topology.
- Second ICS1: The second ICS1 section expands the total connection capacity to as many as eight CS22 modules.
- Rack space: The complete CS14 assembly occupies three adjacent slots.
Moving words and timing signals across fiber
- Memory exchange: Process values are written to and read from the CS12 transfer RAM.
- Normal timing: A 16-bit value transfers in approximately five microseconds under normal load.
- High-load timing: The same 16-bit transfer can reach approximately thirty-two microseconds under extreme load.
- System signals: Basic sampling time, alarm interrupt and clock interrupt can pass from master to slave.
Keeping each optical point-to-point path inside its boundary
- Maximum length: One point-to-point fiber connection can extend to 200 m.
- Master-to-slave: Each path leaves an ICS1 connection on the CS14 and terminates at a CS22 slave module.
- Topology count: The two ICS1 sections support a combined maximum of eight slave links.
- Model identity: The complete 0BA0 order suffix identifies CS14 rather than the other 6DD1660 coupling assemblies.
