Features:
- Four fail-safe current inputs accept HART two-wire transmitters in an ET 200iSP station.
- PROFIsafe communication carries safety-related channel data to the control system.
- Channel diagnostics report wire-break and short-circuit conditions to the configured project.
Each field loop combines transmitter power and a measured current signal on the documented two-wire connection.
The integrating conversion path and four smoothing stages let the project control how quickly stable values are presented.
Intrinsic-safety limits, terminal assignment and enclosure conditions remain part of the station-level Ex design.

From transmitter current to safe process value
- Field loop: A HART two-wire transmitter uses the same loop for power and the 0/4 to 20 mA measurement signal.
- Input conversion: The module applies integrating Sigma-Delta conversion and produces a signed 16-bit value.
- Controller image: Twelve input bytes carry channel information while four output bytes support module communication.
- Isolation boundary: The analog input path is separated from the backplane bus and the Powerbus load-voltage path.
HART channel handling
- Protocol level: The module supports HART protocol version 7.0 for connected two-wire transmitters.
- Cable reach: Shielded signal cable may extend to 500 m under the documented wiring conditions.
- Transmitter burden: The permitted burden for a two-wire transmitter is 750 ohm maximum.
- Value smoothing: None, low, medium and high smoothing correspond to 1, 4, 16 and 64 cycle times.
Safety and diagnostic behavior
- Safety ceiling: The module is certified for SIL 3, Performance Level e and Category 4 operation.
- Fault reporting: Diagnostic alarms can be parameterized for the safety project.
- Loop faults: Wire-break and short-circuit states are available as diagnostic information.
- Potential difference: Different circuit groups permit up to 60 V DC or 30 V AC potential difference.
Hazardous-area installation checks
- Ex role: The module is associated equipment for Ex ia and Ex ib circuits within the stated certification scope.
- Gas area: The documentation covers ATEX gas Zone 1 use under the listed marking.
- Dust area: Zone 21 dust use requires installation in the corresponding enclosure.
- Termination: Use the specified screw or spring-type terminal system and preserve the approved shield arrangement.
