Features:
- Eight protected 24 V DC outputs are arranged in two four-channel groups.
- Eight M12 sockets provide field connections in an IP65/IP67 housing.
- The integrated two-port PROFINET switch supports line-topology networking.
The module combines local load switching with network diagnostics so the controller receives both commanded output data and fault information.
Separate 1L+ and 2L+ feeds let the two channel groups be supplied and evaluated as distinct load sections.
Connector sealing, supply limits, and the group-current budget remain part of the installation design even though the electronics are housed for field mounting.
The Siemens 6ES7142-6BG00-0AB0 Distributed Digital Output Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Dividing the field-load circuits
- Group one: Outputs 0 through 3 draw from the 1L+ load-voltage section.
- Group two: Outputs 4 through 7 are assigned to the 2L+ supply section.
- Shared limit: Four simultaneous loads must remain within the applicable group-current ceiling.
- No current uprating: Parallel connection of outputs is not specified as a way to increase load current.
Carrying PROFINET through the field module
- Two ports: The integrated switch provides an incoming and onward 100BASE-TX connection.
- Automatic link setup: Autonegotiation and autocross simplify connection to the adjoining PROFINET node.
- Redundant ring: MRP participation allows the module to operate within a configured media-redundancy ring.
- Startup behavior: Prioritized startup and IRT features are available when the controller project enables them.
Locating supply and output problems
- Supply checks: Diagnostics identify interruption of a load-voltage feed.
- Open load path: Wire-break reporting identifies a disconnected output circuit under the stated diagnostic conditions.
- Protected channel: Electronic short-circuit protection limits a fault at the affected output.
- Visible grouping: Group and channel indications help relate a message to the corresponding M12 load connection.
Removing energy from standard outputs
- External command: A safety-related shutdown signal acts on the module's standard output supply path.
- Achievable level: The documented arrangement reaches PL d, Category 3, or SIL 2 rather than converting channels into fail-safe outputs.
- Group design: The load-voltage grouping must be included in the shutdown circuit evaluation.
- Diagnostic role: PROFINET diagnostics report module conditions but do not replace the safety shutdown architecture.
