Features:
- Four external antenna connections let one reader serve several RF600 antenna positions.
- Industrial Ethernet and RS422 provide separate routes for reader data and network integration.
- Four digital inputs and four digital outputs exchange field states through a dedicated connector.
The RF680R CMIIT executes UHF tag reads and writes within the radio band assigned to this regional variant.
Network telegrams, serial communication and discrete control signals leave the reader through different M12 interfaces.
Status LEDs separate reader, antenna, network and I/O indications so the active path can be identified at the enclosure.
The Siemens 6GT2811-6AA10-2AA0 RF680R CMIIT RFID Reader may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Moving tag data through the reader
- Air interface: RF600 transponders exchange EPCglobal or ISO/IEC data with the connected external antennas.
- Multi-tag operation: The reader can identify more than one transponder during the same acquisition sequence.
- Write timing: Write access takes longer per user-data byte than read access and should be allowed for in the command cycle.
- Network result: Completed tag data is presented to the configured Ethernet, OPC UA, EtherNet/IP or RS422 path.
Separating Ethernet and serial communication
- Ethernet pair: Two D-coded M12 ports carry the Industrial Ethernet connection and PROFINET functions.
- OPC UA server: The integrated server exposes supported reader information through the Ethernet side.
- RS422 route: The eight-pin M12 serial interface connects through a compatible communication module when that path is used.
- Topology status: LLDP, DCP and Media Redundancy Protocol support network discovery and ring behavior on the Ethernet connection.
Keeping field commands separate from tag traffic
- Input channels: Four digital inputs accept field states through the twelve-pin female M12 connector.
- Output channels: Four digital outputs return reader-related control signals through that same dedicated I/O connection.
- Port separation: Discrete signals do not share either of the D-coded Ethernet sockets or the RS422 connector.
- Power reference: The I/O arrangement operates with the reader supplied from its specified 24 V DC input range.
Applying the enclosure and cable boundaries
- Mounting methods: VESA 100, a 35 mm top-hat rail and the documented Siemens profile rails are supported with the matching hardware.
- Metal clearance: The specified reader construction permits a zero-millimeter mounting distance from metal surfaces.
- Antenna leads: External antenna cables are selected within the documented one-to-forty-meter range.
- Cold start: At temperatures below -20 °C, the reader requires ten minutes of warm-up before normal operation.
