Features:
- One high-resolution bridge-input channel feeds legal-for-trade and process weighing functions.
- Discrete I/O and the analog output translate weight conditions into sequence-control signals.
- RS232 and RS485 divide service access from remote-display or digital-load-cell communication.
Siemens 7MH4900-2AA01 places SIWAREX FTA weighing electronics inside an S7-300 or ET 200M station.
The module changes the connected bridge signal into gross, net, tare, setpoint, and status data used by the configured scale sequence.
Inputs, outputs, and serial ports let 7MH4900-2AA01 exchange those weighing results with field devices, the automation program, and commissioning tools.
The Siemens 7MH4900-2AA01 SIWAREX FTA Weighing Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

From the bridge circuit to a process weight
- Bridge excitation: The module supplies the connected load cell and reads its differential millivolt-per-volt signal.
- Sense conductors: A six-wire connection returns the actual excitation level so cable loss can be included in the measurement path.
- Conversion: The measured bridge value is resolved internally and filtered before it becomes gross, net, or tare data.
- Scale records: Adjustment and operating data sets define ranges, zero, tare, limits, and the selected weighing procedure.
How the weight result controls external signals
- Input commands: Seven isolated inputs can initiate the weighing steps assigned in the module configuration.
- Coarse and fine control: Digital outputs can switch the configured feed stages around the calculated shut-off points.
- Limit response: Output definitions can follow weighing limits, tolerance zones, or operating status.
- Current representation: The analog output maps a selected weight source into the chosen 0–20 mA or 4–20 mA range.
Different serial ports serve different equipment
- RS232 service: A PC running SIWATOOL FTA uses the point-to-point port for parameterization and diagnostics.
- RS485 display: The multidrop interface can transmit the selected weight value to a compatible remote display.
- Digital load cells: Supported RS485 sensors require the documented device type, baud rate, parity, and frame.
- Isolation: The serial paths are electrically separated from the weighing and control connections.
Officially defined scale functions
- Dosing: The FTA sequence controls coarse and fine feed around a stored set weight.
- Filling: Input commands and output stages coordinate automatic filling or bagging cycles.
- Checkweighing: The measured net value is evaluated against configured upper and lower tolerances.
- Totalizing: Accepted weighing results can be accumulated within the defined operating mode.
