Features:
- Combines analog and digital process I/O in one front end module.
- Provides paired PROFIBUS paths for communication with the automation system.
- Adds channel-selective redundancy functions to the AddFEM PoCo architecture.
The AddFEM PoCo Plus collects field signals at four process connectors while keeping the communication and redundancy connectors physically separate.
Analog ranges, digital behavior, filtering, and delayed shutoff functions are assigned by channel rather than by a single global module setting.
A redundant pair exchanges coordination data across two fiber-optic links, leaving each module connected to its own process terminals.
The Siemens 6DL3100-8AC05 AddFEM PoCo Plus Front End Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Organizing field signals
- X4 group: The first process connector carries defined analog and digital channels.
- X5 group: Additional input and output points continue on the second connector.
- X6 group: The third terminal group extends the process I/O distribution.
- X7 group: Remaining channels and counter assignments terminate at the fourth process connector.
Coordinating a module pair
- Selective behavior: Redundancy is assigned to individual channels rather than forcing every point into the same mode.
- Fiber links: Two optical cables connect the paired modules for coordination.
- Service interface: X1 combines service access with the additional redundancy path for the PoCo Plus variant.
- Pair boundary: Each partner retains its own field wiring while exchanging redundancy information.
Adapting channels to field devices
- Input ranges: Analog input type and range are selected for each configured channel.
- Output response: Analog output behavior can be assigned for normal and fault-related states.
- Filtering: Input filtering is adjusted to the signal rather than applied uniformly to the module.
- Delayed shutoff: Digital output delay functions are configured where the process sequence requires them.
Linking the module to the control system
- Device file: The SiT680A3 GSD identifies the AddFEM interface to the engineering system.
- Redundant slave: The module can be integrated as a redundant standard PROFIBUS slave.
- DP-V1 services: Acyclic parameter access supports channel configuration beyond cyclic process data.
- Diagnostics: Module and channel messages are transferred through the configured PROFIBUS path.
