Features:
- Unified Rack Management & One-Shot Configuration
- Dual-Protocol Fieldbus Gateway with Redundant Paths
- Front-Panel HMI with Rack-Wide Alarm Reset
The Vibro-Meter VM600-CPU-M-200-595-033-111 centralizes control of all MPC4 and AMC8 protection cards in a VM600 rack. Using VM600 MPSx software over Ethernet or RS-232, you can perform "one-shot" configuration of alarm setpoints, time delays, and measurement scaling across the entire system, drastically reducing setup errors and commissioning time.
Acting as a data concentrator, this module shares real-time vibration, temperature, and status data with DCS or PLC systems via Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, or PROFINET. The Vibro-Meter VM600-CPU-M-200-595-033-111 maintains two Ethernet and up to three serial links that can run simultaneously, providing true communication redundancy for critical turbine control loops.
Operators can scroll through measurement channels using SLOT/OUT keys and view bargraphs with Alert/Danger thresholds directly on the LCD. The ALARM RESET button clears latched alarms for all protection cards at once – a rack-wide equivalent of discrete resets. This reduces panel navigation time during emergency restarts.
The VM600-CPU-M-200-595-033-111 Vibro-Meter VM600 Series Rack Controller & Communication Gateway may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Gas & Steam Turbine Protection – Used in combined-cycle power plants to monitor shaft vibration, thrust position, and differential expansion. The Vibro-Meter VM600-CPU-M-200-595-033-111 provides real-time alarm aggregation and safe shutdown coordination with the plant DCS.
- Compressor Trains (Centrifugal & Reciprocating) – Deployed in LNG terminals and gas transmission stations to manage surge monitoring and bearing condition data. Its fieldbus gateway simplifies integration with antisurge controllers.
- Hydroelectric Turbines – Suitable for low-speed (≤600 RPM) runner monitoring where bearing vibration and cavitation detection require long integration times. The card's hot-swap capability reduces downtime during annual flood-season maintenance.
- Balance-of-Plant Equipment – Ideal for large cooling tower fans, boiler feed pumps, and induced-draft fans where centralized monitoring of 100+ channels is needed without installing a full CMS separately.
- Centralized Alarm Management – Aggregates Alert/Danger status from all protection cards and displays overall rack health via front-panel LEDs. Operators can acknowledge and reset latched alarms for the entire turbine train in one action.
- Fieldbus-Based Setpoint Adjustment – Remote Modbus writes allow authorized personnel to adjust alarm thresholds (e.g., temporary vibration limits during start-up) without opening the cabinet or using a local laptop.
- Event-Driven Data Logging – Automatically time-stamps and stores configuration changes, card swaps, and exceeded alarm levels. This supports predictive maintenance by identifying repeated pre-alarm events.
- VME Backplane Control – Directly communicates with MPC4/AMC8 cards via the rack's VME bus, ensuring deterministic response times below 10 ms for protection actions, independent of Ethernet traffic load.
- Temperature & Ventilation – Designed for -20°C to +65°C ambient. In practice, ensure at least 50 mm clearance above and below the VM600 rack for passive convection; forced cooling is not required but recommended if rack heat load exceeds 80W.
- Humidity & Conformal Coating – At 0-90% RH non-condensing, standard cards function reliably. For coastal E-house environments (salt spray, condensation cycles), select the "varnished" variant (suffix 33hl) which adds acrylic coating to the PCBA.
- Electrical Noise Immunity – Certified to IEC 61000-6-2 (industrial heavy immunity). All I/O lines to the IOCN are surge-protected and galvanically isolated (500V DC for RS-485). Maintain separate cable ducts for power and signal wiring to preserve performance.
- Rack Physical Placement – The Vibro-Meter VM600-CPU-M-200-595-033-111 must be installed in slots 0 (front double-width) with IOCN in rear slot 0. It occupies two front slots and one rear slot; verify available rack positions before ordering, as ABE056 slim racks cannot accept this card.
