Overview Manuals Input Setup Acquisition Modes Host Interface Applications

Features:

  • Channel capacity: Provides 64 single-ended, 64 pseudo-differential or 32 differential inputs.
  • Conversion: Performs 16-bit analog-to-digital conversion.
  • Acquisition flexibility: Supports triggered, scanned and direct channel modes with programmable gain.
Choose the input topology and voltage range before wiring field signals.

Match the address, interrupt and conversion-format settings to the host software.

Retain the original gain-range jumpers and per-channel gain values when replacing an installed module.

Apter Power supports Xycom XVME-564 VMEbus Analog Input Module quotations, technical documents and installed-configuration matching.

Important Notice: Other accessories, manuals, cables, calibration data, software, etc. are not included with this equipment unless listed in the above stock item description. All prices are shown in USD.
  • Topology: Choose single-ended for dense common-reference wiring, pseudo-differential for separate returns, or differential for common-mode rejection; channel capacity changes with the choice.
  • Voltage range: Use the smallest range that contains every expected signal; an undersized range clips peaks, while an oversized range reduces usable resolution.
  • Data format: Choose straight-binary or two’s-complement conversion to match the host software.
  • Gain range: Set the hardware gain range before assigning per-channel software gain.
  • Single channel: Reserve the 100 kHz mode for one high-rate input; multi-channel scanning trades per-channel update rate for coverage.
  • Autoscanning: Choose 8, 16, 32 or 64 channels to balance coverage against the required scan interval.
  • External trigger: Use an external trigger when acquisition must align with another machine event.
  • Channel sequencing: Use random sequencing for selected points or sequential operation for contiguous channel groups.
  • Host requirement: Use a host processor and controller subsystem in the same VMEbus backplane.
  • Bus transfer: The module operates as an A24/A16 D16 data-transfer-bus slave.
  • Interrupt level: Select one VMEbus interrupt level or disable module interrupts with SW-2.
  • Failure output: Choose whether the red fail indication is allowed to assert SYSFAIL.
  • Temperature sensing: Supports RTDs, thermistors and temperature transmitters.
  • Force measurement: Supports strain-gauge and load-cell signal acquisition.
  • Motion feedback: Supports tach generators and slide-wire inputs.
  • Laboratory signals: Supports microphones and analytical equipment.
Description
XVME-564 is a 6U VMEbus analog input module providing 64 single-ended, 64 pseudo-differential or 32 differential channels with 16-bit conversion.

Input acquisition on XVME-564 supports random-channel, sequential-channel, single-channel, external-trigger and autoscanning modes. Software-selectable gain works within one of three jumper-selected ranges.

Acromag lists XVME-564 as retired. Apter Power can support exact-module quotations, documentation and configuration matching for installed Xycom systems.

Technical notes
XVME-564 occupies one 1 Kbyte I/O block in either VMEbus short I/O space or the upper 64 Kbytes of standard space. Because each module requires a unique base address, preserving the SW-1 address and access selections protects the host map from overlap during service or replacement.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
Why are end-of-conversion interrupts unavailable while XVME-564 is autoscanning?
The manual disables that interrupt path in autoscanning mode; the programmable interrupt timer remains available for host scheduling.
Where does XVME-564 place continuously scanned channel results?
Autoscanning stores channels 0 through 63 in individual 16-bit registers from base + 200h through base + 27Fh.
What must be initialized after an XVME-564 reset before per-channel gain is used?
Program the on-board gain RAM so each input channel receives its intended factor from the selected hardware gain range.
How can host software identify XVME-564 during startup?
The module identification area supplies ASCII-encoded board type, manufacturer, model, block count and functional revision data.
Can unused locations in the XVME-564 I/O block be assigned to custom software?
Xycom advises against accessing undefined locations because that can make the application incompatible with future XVME modules.
Can XVME-564 replace an XVME-560 without reviewing gain setup?
Not safely. Xycom documents incompatible gain ranges, although the XVME-564 provides a jumper setting intended to support XVME-560 mode.
